Destination Highlight Salton Sea

Has anybody on here been to the Salton Sea in California? It is a weird, weird place. We just went there this past weekend. I need to find a documentary on this place because I understand it has a pretty incredible history.

I've not been but I've seen some YouTube videos about it. Is it smelly? I think I saw somewhere that it's stinky?

A couple of years ago. You could shoot “Fallout” episodes in some of the ruins. But the smell would kill you.

There is an odor to it.  And it is pretty barren.

We went to Bombay Beach in November! Interesting place with really great people.

Timely. Not a doc but Val Kilmer is in a movie called the Salton Sea. I didn't make it through it though. 😆

Edit: RIP, Val... My first crush. ❤️

As long as you're in the area, stop by Slab City. It's an interesting little side trip. Lots of art installations.
