Got the call...twice
So sorry but no call, more like an express delivery.
So about 8 or so days ago, Thursday week before last, I went with my wife to local AD to inquire about ordering two Rolexes for our wedding anniversary. It's watch year. Needless to say even though we were looking at purchasing two of them we were still told it was going to be year or possibly more until we saw our watches. A SeaDweller and 36mm DateJust. Frankly waiting that long sucks in terms of a wedding anniversary gift.
So I came home and jumped on a few different gray market sites. Grailzee, Chrono24, DavidSW and a few others. Found the exact two I as looking for on Chrono24, including my wife's preferred size, color, bezel, band, etc for the DateJust. A 2025 brand new SeaDweller and 2024 DateJust. Found them each listed with resellers with 100s of sales each and great reviews for reasonable mark ups.
And within 48 hrs of buying each watch they were both delivered by FedEx overnight shipping. One arrived yesterday and the other this morning.
Now just waiting till our anniversary date before surprising my wife with them. Hopefully she is excited since she was pretty bummed learning just how long it takes to order a Rolex through the AD.
I frankly couldn't believe how easy the whole process was going through Chrono24. I ended up using them versus Grailzee because the sellers on Grailzee all wanted wire transfers rather than just letting me use my credit card.
Pictures attached.

The reason why there is a year wait is because people buy gray. It is a vicious cycle entered.

Or because Rolex should produce more? shrug

They make a million watches a year. Supply is not an issue. It's more the AD playing games.

With 30% price increase, my 2 year wait will be a No Thanks when I get the call

It won’t be 30%
The dealer is importing it at a 30% higher cost, sure. But then there’s their margin and their costs on top ie wages rent etc.
You guys will be paying more absolutely but probably closer to 10-15%

If you don't think... 1. Retailers won't pass on the total cost (yes we understand 30% increase to whole sale is less than 30% increase to retail.) 2. Not use this as an excuse to jack prices up as much as possible Then you're naive.

Aren’t retailers bound by the Rolex msrp?
If not why don’t they just sell at grey market prices today?

They are. But by "retailers" I meant the retail market in general, including Rolex.
