Happy ending We did a very scary thing and I’m so happy
A couple of weeks ago another user shared the very sad and unfortunate news to rehome their female. A one year old puppy. Somehow out of all the people, they picked me. And wow am I so happy they did!! I met this random Reddit user in another state to pick up their dog after a couple of conversations. To say I was terrified is an understatement lol! But one week later and I’m beyond happy and thankful. Our family grew by one and is now complete. Lei Lei as she is known in our house is adjusting fairly well (she doesn’t seem to understand the cats are always sharp!). She has a lot of land to run on. More toys than she knows what to do with. An orthopedic bed. More snacks than she can eat (thanks toddler!). Thursday she finally figured out that snacks fall from the sky if she lays under the highchair. She gets Baby Einstein to watch when no one is home.
This coming week we are going to the vet to meet a new one and talk about getting spayed. She’s learned a bunch of new commands. Lei Lei has a barrel of energy from the moment her eyes open to the moment we turn off the lights at bedtime.
While I know that this was a heartbreaking decision for her previous parent, I’m so grateful that out of everyone, I was picked to take her. I don’t think that Reddit stranger knows how much I’ve cried this week from happiness. I lost my best friend after 11 amazing years together in June last year. He was 11 and it broke me. My home has been so empty without him. Lei Lei is here with us now and she’s given life back to his bed and toys. My house is very happily covered in black rottie fur and I’m fine with it.
