It's pretty fascinating how this specific type of weirdo manifests. It's got to be some kind of later-onset mental illness (no autism) because basically everyone i know/have heard of that fits this archetype come off as incredibly normal, if not above average, otherwise.

I love how his proof relies on the fact that 1x1 equals 2 to begin with

There was some professor who would discuss with these people and critique their theories in return for money.

My all time favorite post on the conspiracy sub is this one. I just know the CIA writers room where laughing their asses off coming up with it

It's late, but you might be interested in John Gabriel's attempts to reinvent calculus or David Birnbaum's philosophical theory of everything. Here's a Guardian article about the latter's story. You're probably already familiar with the classic Time Cube website.

Truth about Santa Claus debunks Santa God. God evolves from Santa.

Time Cube, where have you been all my life

lol if you enjoyed reading that, you might be interested in the Down the Rabbit Hole episode on Time Cube

Imagine how much more humanity would know if the academy didn't gate keep science.

u/synthsandplants Nov 10 '24

99.999% of these kinds of people are genuinely regarded and would not be able to contribute to real science in any way

yeah sure great minds over there in the flat earthers groups, einstein larpers and such. i think self-important scientists in academia with their endless citations are lame. but being a hopeless romantic about the idea that human knowledge is almost ethereal, without form, just vibes, and equating the systematic analysis of nature with just some guy being curious about something, is even lamer.

Mmmmmm-hmmmmm

What does Cumrun say about Andy’s latest idea to build on Lenny’s insight to get around Eva’s paper showing that Ashok’s plan to use Juan’s discovery that Brian and Michio discussed recently on the 13th anniversary of Shamit’s paper tweaking David’s original epiphany, can only work if some speculations of Cumrun are true to begin with in Euclidean signature?

Many such cases

"Cumrun" lmao

Great minds think alike, I guess. Eric Weinstein and I; just two dudes trying to bring a voice to the voiceless and break up the elites' monopoly on "the truth".
