Hey nerds,

When Reddit launched exclusive Stranger Things avatars during the season releases, many fans missed the opportunity to claim them. These avatars were time-limited, but thanks to the amazing support of the community, I’ve been able to compile a complete collection of all Stranger Things character avatars.

You can now claim these avatars using the links below. While these links are not time-limited, I still recommend claiming your favorite avatar as soon as possible. Click any character's name to claim their avatar.

Use the Reddit mobile app to open the links. I'm not sure if these links will work on the web

Jane Hopper (Eleven)
Jim Hopper
Steve Harrington
Eddie Munson
Max Mayfield
Henry Creel (Vecna)
Demogorgon

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making this collection possible by sharing their avatars! This wouldn't have been possible without the help of the community. Enjoy!

(Let me know in the comments if you face any issues or if any link isn't working!)

I am so disappointed in the lack of promotion for season 5

Was it like this before the fourth season? I remember that with the third it definitely felt like there was some sort of promotion. I don’t want them to rush it, but this is taking them a very long time to release… well, anything. Not even just a trailer but some kind of promotional material. It frustrates me.

One thing that's cute about Eleven and Kali's interactions is the way Eleven talks could make most people think there's something wrong with her, but Kali doesn't seem to even notice and just goes along with it to make her more comfortable.

Sick as a dog this morning🤧🤒 So I made some hot tea to help with my chest congestion and decided to use this awesome (of course) mug this morning.

Curious as to whether anyone else has this same mug?

I picked it up at Spirit Halloween last year. Every year during I get different mugs from there, but this was probably my favorite one yet.

Discussion This makes me wonder how well the basketball team knew Billy

Like we saw Billy openly treat Steve like dirt but I wonder if the rest of the school knew his true personality or not? If they're mourning for him, do you think he was probably nice to everyone else except Steve?

He (and Steve) had to have played at the same time as Jason and the other's.

Discussion Four chimes: a warning, not a threat? Spoiler

“He’s been telling us his plan this whole time.”

The way Dustin says this line it’s like he thinks Vecna is taunting them, but rewatching Season 2 I realised that there is another way to interpret this.

When Will is possessed by the Mind Flayer, the Mind Flayer controls his speech but he is able to communicate his own message (“Close gate”) to the Party through rhythmic tapping, apparently without the Mind Flayer knowing. So if it was a similar situation with Henry, could the four chimes actually have been a warning rather than a threat?

If four chimes, four kills is meant to be a threat, it's kind of non-explicit and pointless. Of course, the four chimes eventually lead the Party to figure out that he’s just one kill away. They accelerate their plan when they realise, but if he’d originally wanted them to come and stop him, he could have made his plan a lot more obvious through spoken words.

Spoilers for The First Shadow which also hints that Henry might be able to send coded messages – he has a whole diary written in a code he invented. Going by comments on this sub, the diary seemed to be a lot more prominent in earlier iterations of the play with Patty going to get it from the attic and possibly even a mention of the grandfather clock being used as a decoder ring. It felt as though it could be very significant for season 5. Given most people won’t see the play, deciphering secret codes from Vecna would feel totally random unless the idea has been seeded in things the whole audience has actually seen. And then I rewatched the series and made the above connection.

That’s my theory and I would love to hear your thoughts and speculations.

Tldr; Henry, the human part of Vecna, can only communicate through code and the four chimes are him doing that.

The way that authorities and other people rationalise the supernatural events happening in Hawkins

Spoilers for the ending of S4, for the 3 people who haven't watched it yet.

  • The gate opening is just an "earthquake"
  • Vecna's murders are "ritualistic murders" by Eddie Munsen
  • The Mind Flayer from S3 is just a shopping mall fire

I know it makes sense to assume that things aren't supernatural in nature, but I wonder if they'll keep making ordinary interpretations of extraordinary events or actually catch on that this isn't normal? Since the town evacuated at the end of S4 there'd be less witnesses though for any other things that happen in Hawkins.

My son had a birthday party today at this skating rink. Indianapolis, Indiana…(S4 related)

Walked in and felt both a wave of nostalgia, since I am 45 and grew up going to roller skating rinks…. And also felt Stranger Things Season 4 vibes. The place got decently crowded, and my skating skills came back like riding a bike. Just thought I would share, places like this still do exist. It really was like stepping into a time capsule back to the late 80s or early 90s….

Discussion Vecna and Molasar

Post image
30 Upvotes

I’m so pleased Vecna is a homage to the monster Molasar in Michael Mann’s 1983 “The Keep.” It makes sense given how heavily the Stranger Things score was inspired by Tangerine Dream (who did score for the Keep). Honestly if Vecna had been some ambiguous, possibly upside-down native sorcerer in a temple like Molasar, that would have been amazing. What are your favorite homages in ST?

Discussion What are some of your Stranger things hot takes?

I'll tell mine.

I loved season 2 (except the 7 the ep ofc). Season 2 has my favorite episode from entire show- Episode 8 The Mindflayer

I don't like Murray. No reason. Just don't like him

Hated the Russian storyline in season 4. Least interesting (made me look at my phone)

Season 4 Robin was annoying at times. The switch up in her. Season 3 and season 4 Robin are almost two different people.

There was no need to restart the whole Steve Nancy thing. It felt forced

These are all i can think of now. What are yours?

so the song "otherside" by the red hot chili peppers has a line that says "stranger things never changed my mind i gotta take it on the otherside" and it made me think because in stranger things we obviously have the upside down. but the thing is the song came out 1999 and the show 2016, 17 years apart... i might be a little crazy but its just a weird thought i had and thought i would share. pretty crazy coincidence.

My Seventy Year Old Mother + Stranger Things. Spoiler

So, my mother is pretty awesome. With me she's binged some pretty crazy stuff.

But she had the biggest mum-moment possible at the end of season 4.

On my second watch at the time and still breathless by the end. I'm waiting for her to comment, and during the cabin scene she announces that seeing all the kids cleaning and sweeping was the 'strangest thing she's ever seen' ...

😅MUMS 🤦‍♀️😂

Fan Theory Could NINA have been inspired by Die Glocke?

Thumbnail

For those of you that don't know, Die Glocke was allegedly a bell-shaped device created by the Nazis during WWII to advance Hitler's efforts in opening a portal to another dimension. Sound familiar? I have heard the theories about Nina Kulagina and the Soviet Union, which is also highly probable, as well as the old opera that Brenner speaks of. However, the instant I actually saw NINA, I immediately noticed the similarities in design.

Which would each character prefer: Star Trek or the Twilight Zone?

For me it’s always been twilight zone. I tried watching a bit of Star Trek today for my birthday and can just never fully pay attention to it. It’s not even that I think it’s bad, I think Shatner is really hot. It’s just that the episodes are lengthy, which I think bothers me, and idk I feel like the fact that the twilight zone didn’t have the same cast of characters/a consistent setting gave Serling more room to play around with different ideas. I find 25 min eps easier to stomach than hour long ones.

I think Ted would prefer the Twilight Zone.

I think Dustin likes both. I can see him giving it to Star Trek though/feeling that that show has a bit of an edge.

Lucas got his ass beat for most of this, but trying to fight someone who had a gun, took a hell of a lot of heart. Lucas by far has had the best character development out of the core 4

Discussion Season 1 vs 4

Post image
55 Upvotes

I think that season 1 relied a lot more on terror. That was a big strength of the show. A lot of times what you imagine or think of is scarier than what you actually see. Season 4 leans more on horror imo. Nothing wrong with that just something to note. Thoughts 🤔?

Discussion _________, I am your father!

Hypothetical question time:

If the Duffers were to pull a Star Wars and reveal a secret familial relationship between any two characters in the series, who would you think/want it to be?

This is for fun and there are no wrong answers! Feel free to genuinely theorize or just pick the pairing you think is most fun/funny.

Discussion Rewriting The Upside Down And Dimension X **[The Nether]**

So in this revised version of season 4, the Upside Down is actually revealed to be an ancient plane of existence reflecting our world and the universe that exists right next to us but is invisible and overlaps with our reality, and is also a bridge to Dimension X/The Nether (I made a formal name up myself). It explains why it has The Nether's biology, ecosystem, and creatures because they can travel or be sent to this plane by the Mind Flayer.

The mirroring aspect of this plane doesn't include every nitty bitty detail of our universe, only things that are quite significant. And to keep this realm more in true Lovecraftian fashion, its not fully understood because there are many aspects of the Upside Down that remain unanswered like for example, it having a connection to past, present, and future in a subtle way. Okay, maybe not that last part but it's an idea.

Planes of existence in simple terms, are layers of realities overlapping with the material plane we live in (our universe), and are hidden visually and physically unless one travels to them. The name is really just a fancy word for layers of reality. They have their own laws of reality and how they operate separate from the material world.

I changed this because the whole revelation of it being stuck on November 6th, 1983 and implying that only the town of Hawkins was replicated in some pocket dimension when the first gate opened because that really took away the mystique of what made this dark plane of reality so fascinating. This also helps to keep consistencies with what we've seen throughout the show and prevent needless convolutions.

Thoughts?
