How to test well?

Hello, I’m in college and I feel like I’m a terrible test taker. I’ll understand the material and study but somehow I always do bad on exams. I usually study looking at lecture slides and rewriting them then doing practice work. I also only take notes on paper, I find myself to retain information better that way. Any advice or tips? Really trying to do well on finals.

I made Waylon for this. I always had a good base of knowledge but struggled to answer the questions in exams. Waylon turns notes into questions, WhatsApps them to you, and gives you feedback on your responses to help you nail down your explanations more effectively. Happy to upgrade you to a premium account for free if you give me a DM!

Sounds like you’ve got the knowledge but your method might be too passive. Rewriting notes helps with memorization but not with application. Try active recall cover your notes and force yourself to explain topics out loud, like you’re teaching them. Also, simulate real test conditions. No music, no notes, timed. It trains your brain to work under pressure, which is where most people choke.
