I don't mind these a lot of times because they can help some people get inspired. Used to follow a guy who would laugh maniacally and call you beautiful every morning. It helped me feel a little better.
These kinds of videos aren't trying to downplay mental health issues. They're just tough love-ish versions of "I believe in you" and acknowledging that doubts can hold you back from doing things.

Im not religious but this was cute. ESP for ppl with neglectful mothers having to hand over our existential dread like into her hand like we got caught chewing gum in class

Growing up, I've been screamed at and berated by my mom and many teachers a ton, for being neurodivergent and having a severe dissociative disorder when I was trying my best. I was always blamed for everything and all my struggles were trivialized. This thing really scared me at some deep level lol. It only works for some people, really doesn't work for others.

Can I just say she is BEAUTIFUL 🤩 Holy moly

u/Shivering_Monkey 2d ago
Yeah, that's why she gets away with stupid shit like this.

u/RealityOne2716 2d ago
Don’t really think it’s stupid. I’m not religious so the message isn’t really for ME but I can understand what she is getting at. If you are the type to put your faith and trust in God then don’t doubt Him. I could be wrong but that’s just my interpretation of what she’s saying in the video.

u/jamesick 2d ago
she isn’t getting at anything, she just knows what content gets a lot of attention and shares.
17
u/RealityOne2716 2d ago
??? She is though? There’s an actual message to be received here. Again, if you don’t understand or agree then it wasn’t for YOU in the first place. You can feel like she’s not getting at anything, but that’s just your opinion, not a fact. Your opinion isn’t wrong, but it also isn’t a fact. Saying that she’s just posting that to get attention is, in my opinion, pretty dumb. It gets attention and gets shared because of the message that’s being received. People agree with her message and send it to people THEY feel will agree with the message. Her message has nothing to do with her looks or how people interact with her content. She seems like a very religious person and therefore posts content that aligns with her relationship with religion. The same way people post workout/gym content. Not every person is doing it for the love of content. Some people genuinely feel they have a message to spread and literally do that.

u/jamesick 2d ago
it’s bait, buddy. they’re short soulless messages made for people to repost so you get views and followers. you believe it isn’t because that’s the way it’s marketed towards you, you’re not meant to think it’s fake so you’re probably the target audience of those who’d share and like it.
17
u/Theblacrose28 2d ago
I think that’s a lil dramatic. This message doesn’t work for people with mental illness. However for some people it might help a tiny bit. It’s a bit shallow but I don’t think it’s ill intended.
5
u/RealityOne2716 2d ago
What’s dramatic?
14
u/Theblacrose28 2d ago
That her message is souless.
11
u/RealityOne2716 2d ago
Lmao right? Like just cuz it doesn’t fit your parameters of life it’s gotta be soulless? Everyone is so quick to negate things. Who cares if you don’t like the message? Keep scrolling. It’s not FOR YOUUUUUU. Such a hard lesson for people.

Bruh. My first comment literally states that this video is NOT for me. I don’t believe in religion. I don’t believe that a man created the entire world and everything in it in ~7 days. I do have very religious family members and they absolutely WOULD share, like, etc. all that. Doesn’t negate the fact that there are others out there who share the same views as the content creator. Doesn’t make her or them stupid. Gullible and naive, yes but not stupid. Everyone wants to believe in some sort of higher power. The reality is that we as humans are the “higher power” although we don’t act like it, see current Palestinian genocide.

u/jamesick 2d ago
her being religious isn’t even a factor. it’s just marketing, she could be jesus christ herself or richard dawkins, this content has no purpose than to be liked and shared by those who think it means something. it’s just regurgitating content made by others several times over.

u/RealityOne2716 2d ago
Is that not everything in life? Like literally?? Cars, clothes, shoes etc. different trends go out of style and come back in every decade or so. There is nothing original about the world at all.

u/TheSacredOntarion 2d ago
How the frick is her making a somewhat religious motivational video with a message to inspire people soulless? I'm not religious, but I found this to be fine, not any bad intentions behind it.

u/jamesick 2d ago
then you’re the target audience because you don’t think far enough about it. pretty easy mate?

Yes, she is on the G.O.D train lmao again, just because her message doesn’t align with you doesn’t make it wrong or stupid. It’s just not your cup of tea🤷🏽♀️

I know these videos are meant to be silly but man sometimes they help lol
“Oh bye bye ugly feelings flush them down the toilet say bye bye!!” Great visualization for me most of the time. Even if it’s just meant to make me laugh

u/secondphase 2d ago
Nothing says "don't doubt yourself" quite like having someone tell you "I don't know whats wrong with you" and "get it together"

Take my whole OCD please, it's called the Doubting Disease for a reason

The religious parts don't appeal to me personally but I actually like these videos. The energy, the comedic factor, no shaming or guilting you. They're conforting to me

u/AquaSoda3000 1d ago
I really wish I could just throw my inner critic and doubts into the trash ngl, however, I might miss some valuable criticisms and reasonable doubts if I do

This seemed like a fun lighthearted video why is this on here?? This made me smile?

Nah I love those videos, that aggressive support stuff. They do not claim to solve my problems but it’s a great reminder to let go and some positivity out there. If they were claiming it’s a solution I would’ve been opposed to it. But as a lighthearted video? Great stuff

u/RaspberryKay 2d ago
I'm not religious, but this is quite inspiring. I appreciate silly little motivational videos like this. There's one of a guy who looks like he is about to whoop your butt, but it's like an angry motivation that's not angry, just a passionate motivational pep talk. I hope to see more of these. ☺️

A lot of people lack the discipline in their lowest times to internalize this advice.

I have chronic depression and anxiety and I’m a FTM and idk what it is about her but it worked on me. For a few minutes at least lmao.

She put it in the trash as if that's not what gave her those doubts in the first place :(

u/FreeFallingUp13 1d ago
“Give me your doubts!”
“Don’t know what’s wrong with you….”
I think somebody has a fundamental misunderstanding about how people end up having debilitating self-doubt.

I know she's trying to help but this is not how you heal decades of trauma. To me it all goes back to the inherent feeling neuro typical people have that somehow our mind, our thoughts are not connected to our physiology. That our decisions, our actions and our thoughts are something we do instead something that is shaped by thousands of inter-dependent factors.

u/paintmered2024 2d ago
I don't think most of the stuff shared on here is intended for people with extreme trauma, chronic mental illness etc. these basic surface level things can be motivational for the average person who's struggles aren't that deep

u/SipTime 2d ago edited 2d ago
Like 99% of this sub takes something that isn't for them and says how it didn't help them at all lol. It's like if someone takes an advil for a gunshot wound and gets upset at the advil for doing nothing. Like bro you need serious help it's not the advil's fault for existing.
But I can also understand how it's cathartic to trash content like this when, at least in the US, it's really hard to get substantial help.

This place is literally where all of this shit is posted. This is like, the farthest thing from a safe space there is.

u/Odd-Gur-5719 2d ago
This is motivating to some🤷🏾♀️. Makes them feel like they’re being called out and that someone who doesn’t know them knows what’s wrong. 🤷🏾♀️

Notice how I said “to some”? You can’t yuck someone else’s yum.

Yeah, I thought this sub was more for "you have depression? Just go outside!" And not just "any positivity is bad because it doesn't apply to me personally"

Because I said just because you don’t agree or like something that you can’t tell someone else how they feel is wrong? You’re tad bit a hypocrite ya know. No one said how you feel is wrong but you also can’t tell someone else how to feel about something.
7
u/paintmered2024 2d ago
You're doing the same to people who say they find this helpful though. Just because you can't center yourself in something you see doesn't make it inherently bad.
You're not the main character not everything has to relate to you. It's ok to see something and not get it.

I love how you worded this. I just pulled out my notebook and wrote down that second sentence 👌🏼

u/ButterflyShort 2d ago
I'm convinced these people who say, "Get it together," have never suffered from a mental illness.

She is right. Doubts don't do any good, but they will be replaced by more doubts that come back stronger if you're let down.

I don't have doubts, I have existential dread.
