What? It's the other way around.

NTs call us autists "obsessed" so by this token they're lazy and we're just dedicated.

Isn't that the point of the post? At least that's how I read it because the other way makes no sense. It's so vague I have no idea what it's trying to say

Can we stop treating normal ppl like they're demons?

14

u/Vulfreyr 21h ago

Can we stop calling neurotypical people for normal?

u/Layerspb 19h ago

Not rly

Aw I’m sowwy🥺 it must be so hawd not having any mental disability’s or issues and having. Regularly functioning brain. Ur such a victim.

This is sarcasm if u can’t tell

u/CloudyStarsInTheSky 4h ago edited 3h ago

As someone with mental and physical disabilities, no. Treating other people worse because they're "normal" is horrible. Has nothing to do with being a victim. Treat everyone equally, it's easy to be nice.

u/Harvesting_The_Crops, your comment got autoremoved, mind sending it again?

2

u/Harvesting_The_Crops 3h ago

U sure it did? It’s still up on my end. Doesn’t it usually send me a notification when a comment gets removed

1

u/CloudyStarsInTheSky 3h ago

Yes it did, and even if it didn't, why not resend? Just seems like you're not up for a fair discussion tbh. And no, I don't think autoremoval will send you notifications.

Um… ok. Aggressive much. Basically what I said is that I’m not saying we should treat neurotypicals like shit purely for being neurotypical. In fact, no one in this thread thingy is. One person made a comment pointing out the hypocrisy of the post and making fun of ableist people and this dude got defensive and then called neurotypical people “normal”. that’s what I’m making fun off.

1

u/CloudyStarsInTheSky 3h ago

Aggressive much

Not really, just curious.

Basically what I said is that I’m not saying we should treat neurotypicals like shit purely for being neurotypical

No, but you made fun of a guy saying we shouldn't demonize them. Which is very reasonable.

1

u/Harvesting_The_Crops 3h ago

I wasn’t making fun of them for making that point I was making fun of them for saying it in this context. Again, someone made a comment making fun of ableists and they got defensive then called neurotypical people “normal”. Making fun of ableist behavior is not “demonizing” anyone it is just pointing out bigotry. And acting like that’s something bad to do is ridiculous.

1

u/CloudyStarsInTheSky 3h ago

Right, but the point of "let's not demonize" is just correct. Let's not denonize people. And what would you call neurotipycal people?

I don’t get it. How does this say it’s curing autism?

5

u/ForgottenTM 1d ago

People of the autism variety usually focus in and get addicted to and genuinely LOVE niche concepst, be it art, technology, etc. to the point of obsession. (A stereotypical example would be trains).

The post is saying that they aren’t obsessed but instead just dedicated, but any autistic person with a special interest genuinely knows and understands that their obsession is not normal and usually not healthy, but they still dedicate themselves to it and love it even if they know it is detrimental to their life.

3

u/Admirable-Penalty228 1d ago

Don’t see how this is a cure

6

u/ForgottenTM 1d ago

It isn’t, this is a sarcastic subreddit meant to make fun of people who give the most vanilla boomer answers to chronic issues that can’t be fixed.

1

u/Admirable-Penalty228 1d ago

I’m adhd but not diagnosed autistic although I feel that some of the symptoms are close

2

u/ForgottenTM 1d ago

It isn’t uncommon for adhd and autism to go hand in hand. You could get diagnosed but unlike adhd there is no medication to midigate it. So a diagnosis would realistically only point you in a direction to information that could potentially help you understand it better. But it’s a spectrum all the way from nonverbal to basically fully functional and never getting diagnosed.

In other words getting diagnosed with autism is not so much a science as it is an observation by a hopefully competent psychologist. That at best can point you to resources that can make you more aware of your condition and disproportional problems that you are likely to experience, if you have it.

12

u/JeffroCakes 1d ago

Same. I’m lost. To me it reads as a dig at people who call people who are dedicated to something “obsessed”

9

u/junonomenon 1d ago

yeah the format is a little cheesy, reminds me of something from 2014 pinterest, but its not trying to cure someone or even bad advice necessarily.

4

u/Far-Tap6478 1d ago

I don’t think it’s advice at all, it’s just offering reassurance for people in very specific circumstances

u/Caesar_Passing 1d ago

Lazy is the word people who can't be bothered to learn new things or practice empathy, use for those who don't seem usable in a strictly industrial sense.

37

u/linuxgeekmama 1d ago

Yes! Neurotypicals are just too lazy to obsess over special interests, learn everything they can about them, and infodump about them in every social situation, the way we do.

u/Superb_n00b 1d ago

What? Tf? Lol

OCD-havers:

Yes I’d love to see them report back after an hour on the merry-go-round

Really!

I WAS ABOUT TO SAY-

5

u/tarapotamus 1d ago

That doesn't even make sense. Did a stalker write this? I feel like a stalker wrote this.

14

u/PizzaTime666 1d ago

Im not obsessed with heroine, im just dedicated to it. I dont use it, just like to be around it. Study it. Appreciate it. Use it sometimes.

4

u/AbsolutlelyRelative 1d ago

This is the dumbest and most insulting thing I've read all day.

3

u/dinosanddais1 1d ago

Yes, I am dedicated to the idea that my house is going to burn down if I don't make sure that my fridge is working at least a hundred times.

5

u/6-toe-9 1d ago

How is this trying to cure people?

3

u/Shoggnozzle 1d ago

IDK, I don't hate this one. Neurotypicals are a little more likely to casually dabble in more while several types of divergent brain havers have one or two things they're locked on to and boast a comprehensive knowledge over.

That knowledge is as useful as your ability to communicate and implement it, So if you rolled the lore to a video game or something, congrats, You're that guy people say not to get you started on the topic, But there's a fine chance that every artist your average person can name had something going on up there. I've been trying to shift mine to art for something a little easier to economically exploit than Elder Scrolls lore, But it super doesn't work that way, So it's not going easy. But it's kind of going.

3

u/thpineapples 1d ago

And lazy is a word the privileged use to describe their fear of sickness.

3

u/LoaKonran 1d ago

Yes, dedicated.

2

u/FlamingPrius 1d ago

Omg these people are dedicated with me

2

u/lemonagain8619 1d ago

Laziness is a bullshit concept anyway

2

u/leeee_Oh 1d ago

My freind calls me obsessed with books cause I listen to then 10 plus hours a day

2

u/Itchy-Potential1968 Edit this! 1d ago

dedicated to the idea that i'm inherently morally reprehensible in a way that i can never atone for ✌️😔

2

u/Ticci_Crisper 21h ago

As an autistic person myself, obsession can be unhealthy somewhat often, especially when taken to extremes.

2

u/Think_Bat_820 19h ago

Yeah, I'm just dedicated to my ex-wife.

That's why I keep leaving threatening voicemails and show up to her work drunk and high and sabotage her car whenever she gets more than 75 meters away from it.

If that's not dedication, I don't know what is.

2

u/crusher23b 6h ago

This is exactly what an obsessive person would say to justify their unhealthy behavior.

2

u/shapeshifterhedgehog 5h ago

Ah, so my OCD is actually me just being really dedicated

3

u/megaBeth2 1d ago

You have a weak bloodline if you're not obsessed with anything

1

u/PorkchopExpress980 1d ago

John Hinckley sure was dedicated to Jodie Foster.

1

u/Doctor_Salvatore 1d ago

That stalker is just dedicated to that person.

1

u/lit-grit 1d ago

So what do you call a restraining order?

1

u/Clintwood_outlaw 1d ago

Dude what 😭 this one doesn't even make sense

1

u/m0rganfailure 23h ago

I don't even know what this is trying to say

1

u/GoldenTheKitsune 21h ago

Obsessed is unhealthy. Dedicated is healthy. Don't see how anyone would think they're the same.

1

u/Wild_Commission_7273 21h ago

This is stupid . Like yeah those stalkers are not obsessed with those idols , but they are dedicated to the idols .

1

u/taintmaster900 1d ago

I don't get it. You don't like being described as dedicated?

Do you just sit around and wait for anything remotely postable to this sub

-4

u/SpiritedAd4339 1d ago

The fact you took this as a personal attack makes me think your lazy as shit no offense

5

u/Itchy-Potential1968 Edit this! 1d ago

it was posted to an autism community. a community of people who are known to become obsessed with certain things and derive happiness from activities and conversation related to said things. they may unintentionally neglect more important things because of it. this does not make them lazy. it makes them disabled.

2

u/Tired_2295 1d ago

personal attack

your lazy as shit no offense

1) *you're

2) how do these two things connect?
