The missing mass, part 2:
 in  r/physicsmemes  Feb 27 '25

Except GR works on planetary and cosmological lengthscales so why doesn't it work on galactic length scales? Physics theories normally break down in the extremes (like black holes, for example, or relativistic speeds in QM).

Ah, the existential crisis. This manager is getting it a bit quicker than the other ones.

I mean, apart from reddit and YouTube, I don't have a presence on social media and I was 22 when I made that decision. But still, I'm not saying that they shouldn't have any social media privately but their public facing one should be behind an admin team.

I'm of the opinion that players shouldn't interact with their social media. That might be a marketing blunder because, presumably, some people do this because they are interacting with the real player, but it's gotta be so much healthier for them not to see this from a mental health perspective. This guy on Twitter is blaming 3 players for ruining the culture at the club when it felt like the culture was already going down the toilet which can't be a nice feeling. Also, given that Sancho recently had an episode on Instagram where he seemed to be attacking the club which is paying him a very large amount of money to play for someone else, it would be good to have them step back from social media to prevent these kind of storms.

I hate this new trend of our fans booing our own players. Not on at all.

[Hirst] Man Utd have asked some of their players if they, or anyone close to them, were responsible for the leaking of the starting XI for Sunday’s derby against Manchester City. Amorim: "It is not a good thing, but let’s move on to the next match and see if they find the next starting XI."
 in  r/reddevils  Dec 16 '24

You've gotta go with the Fergie tactic with this stuff. For a little bit, the team news kept leaking and he tracked the journalist who was leaking it to Alderley Edge. He got all the players who lived in Alderley Edge, sat them down in a room and said "the next time that the team sheet leaks, you're all getting fined. I don't care who it is, I'll just assume that it's one of you and you're all gonna get fined." The problem immediately went away.

I genuinely don't understand how putting your leg across someone's knees is not a foul.

This is actually wrong, technically, I think. Pretty sure, this is only for the PL, not the WSL.

Isn't this just what competent clubs do? This just seems like good succession planning to me. Even flipping Norwich said that they speak to different managers on a regular basis when they replaced Farke with Dean Smith.

[Telegraph] Raheem Sterling open to Manchester United move
 in  r/reddevils  Aug 27 '24

I mean, Michael Owen is a bad counter example because a lot of fans weren't (and some still aren't) happy about it precisely because he played for Liverpool. I'm less concerned about Arsenal and Chelsea, the rivalry isn't as strong but, not only has Sterling played for Liverpool, he's won titles at Man City. Plus he's getting on a bit now and isn't as effective in front of goal as he used to be. I just can't get behind this transfer.

Hang on. Titular starter is a common phrase in English so does that mean that it's just "starter starter?"

What does it mean for the bible to be inerrant?
 in  r/Reformed  May 23 '24

Yeah, Gavin Ortlund of Truth Unites has done some amazing work dispelling the myth that the purest interpretation of Genesis 1 and 2 is the literalistic one which is the kind of assumption that gets thrown about nowadays.

THE WORDS OF GOD: KJB or Modern Bibles?

My cold take: KJV Only-ists don't understand how modern textual criticism works and just reason against it via the genetic fallacy.
