Yes. Places do sell them as spore syringes, but that is a lc. Right on!

Heck no! Spore syringes can have variation. What you have is tried and true.

Kinda like seed vs clone, for herb

Usually correct but not always the case I’ve found. I had LC of KSSS and used whole syringe on maybe 6 tubs. All colonized great but started to pin and just stopped completely. Everyone exact same thing. Got spore syringe and they tubs grew these beautiful squats. All conditions exactly the same 🤷. Wonderful , mysterious things these fungi

If they stopped completely it has something to do with their growing conditions. Not the fact that it was a liquid culture or a spore syringe.

LC is isolated genetics. Made under sterile conditions. Faster growth because it's already live mycelium. You'll have a tub that looks the same across the whole cake.

Spore syringe are random genetics that still need to germinate. That's why this tub has a bunch of wild growth. It's good for hunting phenotypes but its a gamble putting it straight to grains because of the high chance of contam when they were made. I did spores my first grow with 100% success not realizing how lucky I really was. I don't think I would do that again I'm so tired of dealing with contamination and wasting time lol

I never said it was stable nor that it can be stored indefinitely. You're better off putting a piece of mycelium in sterilized water for long term storage.. I agree that clones and spores both have their purpose.

I've heard of people in labs with mycelium storages for over 10 years in sterilized water and they work just like the first day. I haven't been in this long enough to test this out but I trust the people who have tested it. Enough to collect spores and restart is basically all you need right ? Yeah clones do weaken genetics over time. We're talking a lot of cloning though

You're right. Just because it's an LC, doesn't make guarantees. The seller could have cloned a dud. Or just spore to agar, maybe they never even fruited it. Who knows!

If it says ISOLATED spore then it’s LC. Just spore syringe is usually just spores

liquid culture is great for faster mycelium growth, but also more sensitive to contamination. double edged sword if you're not careful.

Do you have a link you could share with this information? I was under the impression that LC was harder to contaminate. But if that is not the case and there is other information out there I would love to read it.

you could absolutely find many articles about it online. I apologize that I don't have any speficic sources to share, but I'm familiar working with it before and can say that it's faster, but more difficult to manage against contam.

I know which vendor you got this from and their LC is indeed labeled as isolated spore syringe. Was real confused the first time it happened to me after only buying their MSS. Had very good luck with this vendor so far

It is LC which has its advantages over spore syringe, but it also has a much shorter shelf life and needs to be refrigerated whereas a spore syringe can last indefinitely at room temp.
