yeah but she's also related to the biden admin which cooked her; i really don't understand why they insisted on running him for months

Dems are pretty terrible at messaging and campaigning, and tbf Trump isn't better at putting together coherent thoughts than Biden, it's just that his baseline vocabulary and intellectual depth is so limited, it makes it much harder to spot a cognitive decline.

well also he speaks at a 5th grade level or lower; which would be bad if you wanted a smart candidate, but good for talking to voters

I really encourage you to read a transcript of his, it is surprising just how hollow or downright incoherent it all is once you remove the spectacle of it.

I mean I don't need to read that to know he's incoherent lol we all know that... but if you listen to the average person talking, they can be quite incoherent and tangential too

I swear to god if a democrat gets elected in 2028 and does everything right to improve the situation, the voters somehow would turn around and complain that they didn't fix it fast enough and deliver a Reagan level landslide to Barron Trump or Vance, just like they did precisely after Carter + Volcker.

And until America cares more about not being regarded than campaigning, they get and deserve all time 🍑 🍑 🍑.

This won’t change that btw, DJT Jr. Depression 2033 because Newsom didn’t call him enough names.

Dems are the ops department and Reps are sales/marketing.

“You sold WHAT? That doesn’t exist! FUUUUUUCK.”

Because somehow they thought gaslighting everyone into thinking Biden was okay until he wasn't was a great strategy. Now thanks to it we are having a market collapse.

Biden was okay. He arguably got worse at talking, and that is it.

I'm still pissed at everyone who spread the idea that thought Biden was weak, dottering president, when everything was fine and getting incrementally better under him. He had strong advisors he actually listened to.

This. I The president itself is more for show. What's important is surrounding it with Competent people. People have forgotten the value of competence, and we are all paying the price.

Upending the world order and betraying allies is more significant than the market collapse....they are related but one is much much worse than the other.

Who is "they"? It was always up to Biden as long as primary voters supported him, and they did.

u/nissan_nissan 1d ago

the people who run the democratic party

They don't choose the candidates. Back in the 60s and 70s they had power but today its just the primary voters and the candidates. Its the same way Trump got the nomination when the GOP did not want him to.

I would argue that the GOP is much more reactive to their primary voters wants than the DEM, and the democratic party machinery does still choose their candidates;

I do think this is outside of the scope of wsb lol

"democratic party machinery does still choose their candidates" if you research this you will find out its untrue.

And how did Bernie get sidelined for Hillary in 2016 again?

1

u/boxofducks 17h ago

because he lost in Iowa, got crushed in South Carolina, got crushed on Super Tuesday, lost 16 of the top 20 states for population including all of the top 9, and by the end of April lost by 15 points in New York, putting him so far behind that even winning California wouldn't be able to help him (he lost there too).

He lost all of the primaries and caucuses that mattered and lost the nomination because the voters wanted Hillary. He won the Reddit Primary which comes with no delegates. Complain about superdelegates if you want but Hillary crushed Bernie in the vote. If you think it's unfair to have anything other than a pure voting system, the person that actually got screwed is Hillary, who got more votes in the 2008 primary than Obama did.

Thats a great example. The party could not stop him, only the candidates could. Buttigieg and Klobuchar made a deal with Biden and dropped after super tuesday. There is no smoke filled room its just voters and candidates

It all unfurled like it did because the DNC had zero plan from the get go. Which at this point kind of is their plan, no plan. Republicans at least have strategists like McConnell and while the next generation is looking hilariously grim for them the old guard have been kicking the Dems asses for over two decades now.

What likely happened is after the 2022 midterms the Dems started looking forward at the possibility of Trump Round 2. They looked at their stable of possible candidates and just like last time and the time before that it was fairly empty of anyone worth running. So they figured they'd just go with Joe again and hope Trump gets knocked out early by legal issues. Then the June debate debacle happened and they panicked, pulled Joe out at the last minute and threw in his VP. Again, just no plan whatsoever.

Harris for her part stood no chance. She's the relatively unknown VP of an incumbent administration that's grappling with economic recovery and inflation and she's got literally four months to campaign.
