Wow the foundations of modernity were built on the flawed assumptions of dead old men! The mistake of the present is always thinking everything is figured out and set in stone.

Speaking as a bull, it's tough to be optimistic for an upswing in the near future. Considering this downtrend is completely manufactured by Trump's party, and he can always just... make shit even worse, if that's his design goals.

To everyone who memed about not investing in the 2008 crash because they were still in elementary school, this is your moment.

u/CULT_OF_BOG 2m ago
GFC honestly was just a big bank run, could be solved through traditional financial methods eg money printing , QE , etc
This is a huge structural change to the supply side of the economy. Gutting imports will create huge shortages of goods which we cannot manufacture for 3-5 years and even if we did, it would be at much lower efficiency.
Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this is worse than the GFC if 🥭doesn’t back down

The loss porn from options today is UNREAL, were you idiots really thinking the market was going to bounce? Bulls really are retarded.

Went over to this chick house a bit ago who’s married to another chick but she’s bi and the marriage is open and it was uh interesting. We engaged in intercourse and overall it was very nice. Idk what the fuck i expected out of it tbh, I get home and she says we have very different values and “she’s a lot more radicalized than I am” and she would like to be my “good friend” after fucking my brains out. WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT EVEN MEAN GUYS.
I’m genuinely so fucking confused rn

Ban Bet Lost
/u/Hocari- made a bet that TSLA would go to 220.0 within 2 weeks when it was 249.45 and it did not, so they were banned for a week.
Their record is now 11 wins and 8 losses

For the record, this is not a fuckup. The intention is to crash the economy to disadvantage industry so their leaders come to the federal government looking for relief. Then they will be granted relief based upon what favors they will do (bribes)

"My 390k's not doin' so good, Bob. My 372k has been steadily dropping all month. I'm not even sure why I still have to pay into my 358k. At this rate, I should probably just cash out my 342k now, because my 336k isn't going to be worth anything by the time I retire."

Going to explain to ya'll when tariff, and why dumb:
You use them to protect certain industries. You have dairy farmers, but big milk from where ever land keeps undercutting their milk. So you apply tariffs. Now your farmers can still make a profit, but your citizens pay more for milk.
Smarter move: bring in milk from where ever land, because it's cheaper, and export something they dont have. It's a win-win.
If I make $10/day of profit selling milk, vs. $1000/day selling chip designs, I make chip designs.
You may need milk for national security, so you apply a super high tariff on it so you make sure you have dairy farmers incase your trade partner stops trading with you (cause war or whatever). Here's the big think for you: blanket tariffs, apply to fucking everything. We don't need EVERYTHING to be made here. The problem, EVERYTHING will be more expensive. We made the system less efficent at zero added benefit. It's a net less. Bad. Not good. Fucking stupid.
1
u/SkeletorsVengeance 3m ago
what if everything your country makes, is made cheaper everywhere else?
and your only export, is branding from 70 years ago?

This will be remembered as the week that China emerged as the preeminent economic and geopolitical power of the 21st Century.
China has pursued a neo-mercantilist strategy of securing access to critical minerals and supplies. As part of their retaliation to Trump's tariffs, they restricted access to several rare earth minerals that are in short supply and critical for many high-tech devices. And as Trump aims to sever our links to the global economy, China will expand into the void.

I can picture JPOW sitting on his porch drinking his coffee, looking forward to a soon to be retirement, knowing he's been working as hard as he can to stabilize the American economy.
Then comes along Trump, placing tariffs on the whole world, and now JPOW knows he can not retire until he helps clean up this new mess, which will take another ten years.
JPOW quietly thinks to himself..."God Damnit."

Especially Americans. Like I said, when they go to cash out their 401(k) they're gonna be handed a bill.
While I joke the reality is they're going to be working in the acid mines until they're 90.

Sold TSLZ just before market close in case Mango and Elmo announce something on the weekend to pump TSLA again.... Only for TSLA to go down another 2% after-hours, RIP. Hoping for some stupid TSLA bag holder pump on Monday to buy back into TSLZ.

What’s with this fetish on manufacturing? These guys don’t work a day on assembly line in their life.
1
u/Temporary_Inner 8m ago
In short: no education, immediate job, guaranteed pension (we know that was a scam, but the people think it was real), no experience, annual raises, and working in a office does fucking blow
1
u/MyCactusTeacher 10m ago
a lot of the country was built on manufacturing and then became a shithole when manufacturing left. the people in those regions still want to get paid like high skill, high value workers even though that level of skill/ number of workers isnt needed anymore due to computers

How does option IV work over the weekend? Does it decrease because there is no effective movement in the underlying stock?
Eg. I may have bought some SPY 500P that expire Monday. Premiums were crap at close on Friday because of IV - $7 for an option $5 OTM.
When market opens on Monday, will the options open at a drastically lower price?
I get that theta will eat a bit over the weekend, that's the trade you make for holding. I'm more wondering about the IV effect.
1
1
u/FewProfession3709 14m ago
U would need a almost -6% move downwards to stay at the same value at close with options expiring monday-Tuesday

"Trump trained his anger on China during his first term, leading many manufacturers like Nike, Gap, Levi’s, and Dell to begin shifting operations to Vietnam, in order to save costs and set up shop in friendlier territories. But now Trump is hitting Vietnam with a 46% tariff, leaving many executives exasperated – and planning to raise prices rather than relocate yet again."
"In the words of another executive: “We’re just going to have to make fewer shirts and sell them for more money.”
The whole "factories will relocate to America and hire workers to make shoes and shirts" thing is going swell.
1
u/dawnguard2021 4m ago
If Trump really wants clothes and shoes be made in Amercia he would need 1000% tariff.
2
u/Hairy_Yam5354 12m ago
Here's the thing Trump doesn't seem to realize. 1) We couldn't really turn a profit on shirts when we could pay Americans $8/hour to make them; now that we have to pay them $22/hour, you're gonna be looking at an expensive shirt; 2) and more importantly, no one, absolutely no one in America really wants to work making shirts or any other fucking manufacturing jobs. We sent those jobs to China in the first place because Americans don't want them. When's the last time you heard an American say, "you know, I wanna work in a fucking sweat shop when I grow up"?
2
u/unhappyreach_ Missed the flairing 19m ago
Finish the clothes in the US
Boom no tariffs
I can put some shit into a box
2
u/Majestic_Sympathy162 11m ago
You can't just put it in a box i don't think. At least the tag reading "made in the USA" needs to be machine stitched on here. Which will help create a single part time job for a vietnamese guy we import who's already familiar with the operation and can do "tag machine repair."

You can borrow shares from your broker with a margin account to sell them with the hopes of buying them back with the difference being the profit. So sure, I think your idea works as well.
2
u/fog_rolls_in 9m ago
Thanks, I knew there must be a workaround. Most people don’t even think to ask and it’s just a simple answer. I’ll call the broker in the morning. Very helpful.

Always happy to help. Although your broker likely won't be answering calls on the weekend. Might have to wait til Monday.
