Fun Daily Commuter with MT

So after reading multiple posts on this sub, this may seem like a repetitive question, but I guess everybody’s circumstances are different.

Currently have a 2020 Toyota Tacoma that has been my daily, but I want to limit the miles on it and get something that is fun to drive and reliable on my long drive to work. Wanting something sporty, engaging/fun to drive, and prefer it to be a manual transmission. Want reliability and decent maintenance costs. Looking to stay under 45k.

After researching and pondering some options these are what’s on my mind so far (open to new suggestions though!)

  • BRZ/GR86: test drove this, was a fun car and pricing is better than others. Just wondering about it being comfortable for long drives. Most of my commute is freeway, straight roads.

  • Civic SI: test drove, was fun, good gas mileage, kind of boring compared to other options

  • Nissan Z performance: test drove, was a blast to drive, looks amazing, and the interior is nice. Nissans recent reputation and future is a little worrisome

  • BMW M240i: B58 engine seems to be a beast, would have to get this CPO to keep under price. Haven’t always been a German car fan. A a little worried about maintenance and reliability on this. And my dad who is a mechanic might kill me if I bought a BMW

  • Hyundai Elantra N: haven’t drove, but heard this can be a good option as well

Appreciate any information and tips, thanks guys!

For fwd fun the civic and elantra are a bit big. I'm french so I know fwd and you want it to be small and light and the roads to be twisty. Your Mazda MX5 are our Renault Clio RS. If I want bigger than the Clio I take rwd. So Honda and Hyundai are out.

For rwd I wouldn't take the Toybaru because only 4 cyl. while the others have 6. Engine is important in the driver's experience.

So it's betwin BMW and Nissan. So it's the BMW.

I didn't need even one second to reach this conclusion.
