Ask Windsor Strange cogeco rep past 7pm
So a little after 7pm we reveived a knock on our door. There is a ring camera and we saw a man with a cogeco vest. We answered through the ring but he just stood on the steps looking down. We asked 4 or 5 times what he wanted but he just stood there looking at his phone. After a min or 2 he left but went across the street and 2 houses down. We know he heard us on the ring cuz we could hear it outside. Has this happened to anyone

They have been around for years, they are a third party selling cogeco packages. They probably get bonuses on how many people they can sign up. They work all hours. Bell has the same thing, they aren’t directly employed.

I’ve had a similar experience. One showed up at my door and was very curious as to who was home: “is the owner of the home home? Is your dad home? When can I come back? Do you guys have cogeco right now? I’m in the neighbourhood for a while today” I get it’s their job and they’re eager to make sales, but take a hint.
Not even trying to build rapport, just felt invasive!

They were in my area the other day. They seemed so awkward and lost, like they’re not even from around here. I always wonder why these companies hire people with limited social skills to go around knocking on doors. They usually work for a third party and get paid in cash. And when you contact the company they’re selling for, they usually have no clue that there’s a sales team in your area and they won’t know about the deal they’re offering because it’s exclusive to people who sign up through those canvassers. This tends to create even more suspicion.

Cogeco reps have been in riverside a bunch, installing new fiber lines, asking for ppl to switch over. I was going to until i tried to cancel with bell and they lowered my bill. So prob nothing to worry about. Most ppl dont get home till after 5 from work so 7pm is a safe bet ppl are home and not interupting dinner.

I used to work for a company like this. They’re hired by Cogeco to go door to door to try and sell you Cogeco products. So basically they have a list of addresses of houses who either don’t currently have Cogeco or only have 1 service by them. They rotate from neighbourhood to neighbourhood and city to city every few months.

And for those saying they looked lost: they probably are. It is really poorly organized, and depending on where the “home base” office is, this may be their first time in Windsor. I worked for them when their home base office was the Windsor one, but we would drive all the way to Sarnia every day and be dropped off in a neighbourhood with a list of addresses for 8-12 hours. It was awful.

Strange? How? He maybe had earbuds in, waiting on movement. Answer your door. 95% of the time, personal crimes are committed by someone you know.

“Answer your door.”
Can’t agree with this. Yes, occasionally you will have a useful or meaningful interaction. But there is some risk, and I wouldn’t blame anybody who doesn’t answer when people they don’t know come to their door.
Also, would not want to be cold-calling at people’s doors either!
Plus, I’m an introvert. I generally don’t want to talk to anybody ever, lol.

Same. I used to answer the door all the time - and then I had the realization one day - what for? I’m not expecting anyone, and I don’t want to talk to anyone, especially selling something, unsolicited, as I don’t buy from door to door salespeople. I have a video doorbell, if it’s a neighbour, kid fundraising, or someone I know, fine - if it’s a salesperson or someone holding an iPad - goodbye

I wasn’t home when this occurred, but my neighbour across the street informed me that a guy in a cogeco uniform was on our patio using his flashlight to look into our living room window.
