I know likely tired of all this as I am.

But of everything proposed to date, this would absolutely decimate our local economy.

Hopefully our politicians can stick handle this because thinking about the consequences are not fun.

Was having lunch at TOAST, all of a sudden they announced that the American couple a few tables down from us are covering the bill for everyone in restaurant. Was stunned and then pleasantly surprised. The couple apologized for what the Trump administration was putting Canada through and said that they don't support Trump.

Production at Stellantis’ Windsor Assembly Plant will come to a halt for two weeks, according to Unifor Local 444.

The union announced they received notice from Stellantis on Wednesday evening. The shutdown will start on April 7th, 2025.

“While we had heard rumours of potential downtime, the company said there are multiple factors at play, with the primary driver behind the final decision being this afternoon’s announcement from US President Donald Trump of the U.S. tariffs,” said Unifor 444 president James Stewart in a social media post. “This has and continues to create uncertainty across the entire auto industry.”

“This is not just affecting our plant,” Stewart said, “it’s impacting facilities in the U.S. and Mexico as well.”

I would honestly be embarrassed to be a Conservative MPP and not speak to the people, but I suppose that $150,000 a year plus all that free travel to Toronto… and the ability to hire your friends and family at your constituency office makes it worthwhile.

News/Article Could Brian Masse lose his seat?

Post image
49 Upvotes

Just checked to the polling numbers for Windsor West where Brian Masse has been the MP since 2002 and there’s been a massive swing in the polls away from Mr. Masse. The Liberals only announced their candidate Richard Pollock - a Windsor lawyer - a couple days ago but they are leading. This would be a huge shift for a safe NDP riding but it’s following the trend where the NDP vote is moving significantly towards the Liberals.

I think the biggest issue by far in this election is party leadership and who is best suited to make the best decisions for the future of Canada. Mark Carney has decades of senior leadership experience while Jagmeet has only opposition party leadership experience which isn’t remotely comparable.

I feel Brian Masse has been a good representative for this riding for years but the riding would be in a better position in trade negotiations if their MP was in government.

News/Article How, if at all, did the pandemic permanently change your daily life?

Five years ago today, the WHO declared the COVID-19 global pandemic. I'd like to know how it changed your daily habits/life/practices permanently. I'm putting together a full local story on the five-year anniversary for our newscast this evening, so I'd love to hear from the community on this.

Personal example: Prior to the pandemic, whenever I would come into the house after being out, the FIRST thing I would do is wash my hands. But if we had guests come over who didn't do that, we sometimes would get awkward about wanting to tell them ... and we would just let them not do it. AFTER THE PANDEMIC, if anyone visits our house, the rule is that they have to wash their hands.

Surprise, surprise.

At least Dilkens is no longer responsible for the police board and someone with actual knowledge in now in the position.

This was bound to fail in 2019.
