Wait until the paint your house black trend gets this paint.

I'm looking forward to seeing the first iteration of it; after that, I think the law of diminishing returns will take over pretty quickly.

Why is it, there's always a new black (Black 2.0, Black 3.0 Musou Black)...and they always paint fruit?!
I've never seen an application of this paint and felt like THAT is a good use for this product?

I want a true black that can be painted and not just applied in a lab under perfect conditions and never see rain

Yep. There it is. A terrible marketing attempt by a terrible marketing concept.

I like it. But that's just me.
But to the naysayers' point, would be cooler in a composition with more depth, so it tricks the eye more. This is a bit lazy. But again, I still like it. Dark Matter Apples.

He got Surrey Nanosystems to give him an exclusive license to use Vantablack in artistic applications.
Literally no other artist is allowed to use it without his permission (e.g. by paying for a sub-license).

When your art is so mediocre that you have to get exclusive deals to stand out. Yuck!

The whole thing about him selfishly buying exclusive rights to Vantablack was actually smear campaign by a rival artist. Surrey Nanosystems commissioned Kapoor to make a sculpture with their IP.

No. Anish Kapoor approached the company when he found out about the material and asked to purchase the rights to use it, which the company agreed to. This made a lot of other artists upset. https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2016/sep/26/anish-kapoor-vantablack-art-architecture-exclusive-rights-to-the-blackest-black

Vantablack is dangerous stuff, I would never handle it.

Why is it dangerous?

You have to wear PPE when applying it, it's made with nanotubes that may act like asbestos in the lungs.

Sure it's an add, but that stuff is actually good. I put wall cabinets over my desk last year with LED strips in aluminum channel behind the front edge, but I had cut out a small section at the seam between each cabinet. I ended up with these super annoying bright spots where I cut into the side of each cabinet to fit the channel, so I painted those edges with that stuff. I don't even notice it anymore. I have a small number of other uses for it, but that was why I bought it, and it did the job nicely without looking like trash. Was worht every penny. I plan on doing the same in the kitchen next year when I replace all the cabinets and rip out the pantry.
