So now Trump is force to go to war with Denmark over Greenland, or make a deal with Ukraine .... this cannot end well, because making a deal with Ukraine would be admitting he was wrong all along.

Trump doesn't need to admit he was wrong to reverse course on something. He can just reverse course and say "wow did i say that before? i don't remember" and his fans will be like 'such a 4D chess head fake from Trump, can't believe anyone doubts this man"

That is a corner of California which has nothing at all going on, so creating a mining industry would be a great idea.

Driving I-40 and there is a 2 hours baren landscape where only Mad Max can live.

Ukraine don't have much if any  rare earth reserves. They do have some deposits but if they are viable to recover is very much up for debate.

Those rare minerals in both areas aren’t developed yet and it takes years to build a industry around it. So both aren’t really short term solution. They probably have to ask russia or Australia now.
