ABA jobs in school settings

I'm currently looking to get back into ABA, I heard from some friends some schools offer positions in a school setting, does anyone here work in a school setting that has recommendations

Depends on the school/district and the job level.

Typically RBT/CBT are contracted positions. So find an ABA provider that works in schools.

BCBA is a mix, some contracted and some work directly for the school/district. So it's your preference, do you want to work for an organization that contracts with schools? Or do you want to work directly for the district?

Then there's private schools which are going to be case by case and depend on their student body.

I worked in the public school setting for 1.5 years and recently switched to a private school that only works with kids who have autism. My preference is working directly for the school/district because you get all the school benefits/vacation time included.

For private schools how as the relationship with the BCBA?

I'm a LABA (Licensed Assistant Behavior Analyst) so I'm more aligned with the BCBAs than the CBTs so my relationship with them is great. The relationship we have with the CBTs is also great. It's a small school so it's easy to check in and help out when needed.

Private schools will probably vary the most since they can be so vastly different in how they operate/who they tailor to.

Ive worked in a school setting for 3 years! I honestly love it better than working in clinics. The day goes by so much faster. I would look into different companies and see what they offer. My previous company paid me for school vacations which was amazing; but, I never once saw a BCBA which was awful because I didn’t have any guidance besides the teacher. Make sure you read reviews on companies and if they actually send out BCBA’s to supervise you (because that is what they’re supposed to do). Also, ask about the summer and if they offer any work during that time. That’s a huge thing that should be talked about. I was out of work last summer because they weren’t able to place me anywhere (so always have backup work during the summer!). I’m in a great company now and they are amazing with communication and providing me support! I wish you luck!!

That's great to hear, if you don't mind me asking what company do you work for?

It a company based out of Rhode Island called Looking Upwards! The company I worked for before that paid for vacations is called ALEE behavioral healthcare!
