Books Remaining: 16
By Narrator we have
Jake- 1, 6, 26
Rachel- 7, 22
Tobias- 3, 13, 33, 49
Cassie- 19, 29
Marco- 5, 10, 20, 45
Ax- 8
Tobias and Marco share the lead now with 4 remaining each. I'll have to think for a day on which I want gone.

I nominate #49 The Diversion as to this day I cannot wrap my head around Jake telling the Animorphs to “sleep on it” rather than immediately trying to evacuate all their families. Which is directly the reason for his own family being captured.
It’s a major piece of evidence towards my theory that Jake preferred the pathos of having Controllers as relatives over actually having his relatives. I feel like he read too many Civil War books about brothers fighting brothers and somehow reached the conclusion that he was supposed to kill his family.

Had he acted immediately, Rachel would also be alive...oof. That one mistake really fucked him up.
And, he would have had the other Animorphs to back him up. Let the others get their families, then come back, go all in on getting Tom, tie him up and smoke the Yeerk out.

Honestly, in like the thirtieth book, when they still done anything about Tom, I just gave up on the series.

Yeah, at this point it started to become very obvious that Applegate had a message she wanted to push in her story and she didn’t care what got in the way, even if it was the story.
If you think about it, even with Tom not being captured and freed like he should have been ages ago, it still doesn’t make sense, because it means that his Yeerk has had the leader of the “Andalite Bandits” living in his house for like three years, and he didn’t know. Visser Three has killed Yeerks for way, waaaay smaller screwups. Remember poor Jillay Nine-Two-Six?
So Rachel killing Tom on the Blade Ship and then getting killed herself requires two characters to act out-of-character: Jake and Visser Three.

Which one was Jillay again?

u/AlternativeMassive57 Yeerk 2d ago
The Horse Controller from #14 who was beheaded by Visser Three after successfully infiltrating Zone 91, seeing what was there, but not being able to tell the Visser what it actually was because he hadn’t brushed up on his archaic Andalite toilet designs.
Poor Jillay.

Yknow, I don't think this Visor 3 fella is nice. In fact, he seems like a dick

Visser 3 wasn't acting out of character. That's wrong.

It's pretty out of character for him to let a Yeerk who screwed up that badly live, when he's regularly killed for minor offenses like "interrupting him", "not knowing what a thing is", etc., as well as regularly executing Yeerks for failure generally.

Tom is a valuable host is the issue and could be used against Jake.He only kills useless yeerks not valuable ones.

- It is an amazing introduction, but it might be the weakest of what is left

The issue with 1 is it tried to do too much in 1 book. Some of it could've been thrown back a bit like the ending of 1.

My biggest complaint was that Tobias got stuck in morth during Book 1, so by the time Book 3 rolls around, he had already been stuck for an entire book. Would have been a perfect plot point to move to the next book.

I agree, they wanted to make the yeerks seem dangerous at the start, but if he did get trapped in 3 how and where? And it would kinda ruin them almost getting trapped at wolves in that book also possibly if done wrong.

I'm not sure why people felt like the it was time for the David trilogy to start dropping out. And I can't be convinced that 21 is worse than 20 (and 20 is still a great book). Yeah 21 is my favorite of the trilogy, and one of my favorite books in the series, so I'm salty about it.
29 The Sickness

22 is the best out of the 3 I think, reading it now.

I get it, I understand why 22 is the most popular but I prefer 21. But I don’t see how 20 ranks above 21.

I am guessing style. Marco is always a more enjoyable narrative experience. I’m kinda shocked only 4 of his books are left. Marco is the most consistent narrator in terms of quality. Even the ghost writers were able to capture him in a way they could not for the others.

29 The Illness
Hahahaha! You fool, there is no such book!
That being said I will move Heaven and Earth to make sure that The Sickness gets into the top 15 at minimum.

Dang, the latter half of the series really doesn't hold up to the first huh? (on book 27, will be halfway through once I'm done).
P.S. Book 6 maybe? Honestly, out of the ones I've read, I think that one stands out the least. Still like it, but it's probably one of the few one-offs remaining.

19: the departure.
While it introduces Aftran, Cassie is holding the idiot stick the entire book and it’s painful.

Not nominating 20 today, I made my reasons clear when 21 was up for disappearance in the last two posts why I felt it should go before that book but now 21 is gone, it's not 20's time yet.

I’ve been lurking and I’m just happy the David trilogy lasted this long.
