Society/Culture Trump will blame us for the coming economic downturn.

Just FYI - thinking ahead, Donald will absolutely place the blame on people like those in this community when the tariffs and shit blow up in his face. Rhetoric will probably include “anti-American boycotts” and call us marxists/leftists/liberals etc.

Having a large number of people actively trying to cause economic pain to large corporations makes us an easy out to excuse the most ridiculous trade policy we have ever seen.

Prepare yourself for an especially mean Fox News segment and pure demonization. We’re going to be the next scapegoat.

edit: this post is not meant to be pro-consumerism. It is to keep aware that boycotters/anti consumerists will be in the crosshairs - the cult needs someone to blame. Do not think in terms of reason and reality with MAGA: the important thing is the headline and talking points they can make in a conservative vacuum.

Solidarity!

I’m sure blame will be misplaced but do you truly think any politician is going to blame a subreddit or people who live a minimalist lifestyle?

I think this is overstating our place on the political radar. I don’t even think politicians know we exist let alone give any thought to us.

However, let’s say Trump does blame us…so what? What are we supposed to do? Brace ourselves for it?

Most everyone knows Trump says absolutely bat shit crazy stuff (even those who voted for him)

Why should we care who he blames or what he says?

Narcissistic people crave attention (positive or negative) so he’ll likely blame someone who would generate far more media coverage.

But I am genuinely curious why any of us should care or give and attention to who he blames. You know it’s going to be a load of nonsense.

Why even give him that space in your mind or plant it in the minds of others?

You're sounding awfully confused... Trump should dominate your every thought.

To not concern yourself with his opinions, leaves you unprepared for the required, unrelenting blind fury. What's more important than being consumed w Trump/Musk?
