Of course this sub is going to hate this because California, but the creed of Libertarianism and Conservatism is small government and less federal oversight.
You want your states to negotiate fair trade agreements.

So take the tariff power away from the president and give it to the states? Corporate taxes are already like this. That is why all american companies pay the lowest taxes in delaware

I said nothing of the sort. If you want small government then dont enforce federal tariffs and allow states to negotiate trade with other countries. States are small unions anyways held together by a federal oversight for unalienable rights. The republicans just dont want people to believe they're just as much a part of the racket as democrats are.

No i didn’t say you said that but would that be a good idea?

Gotcha. I cant begin to say what would be a GOOD idea. The reality is, economic policies take time to reflect in global markets.
401Ks and stock markets go up and down in cyclical patterns, its just natural. That being said I do think federal regulation on markets is a slippery slope. You should allow trade agreements and domestic policy to reflect the support of American industry, not just blanket tariffs like the trump administration has enacted.

WTF does California even have to trade though? Ashes, porn and tiny rare fish?

Manufactured goods dominate California exports at 87% ($159 billion)—computer equipment, semiconductors, instruments, and aerospace products and parts are at the top of manufacturing exports.

Cool! Sounds profitable!
.....
So how come you have so many homeless junkies, and no water in your hydrants?

That’s a blunt but fair question — here’s the deal: 1. Homelessness & addiction: California’s high cost of living, housing shortages, weak mental health infrastructure, and drug policy challenges all play a role. Cities like LA and SF attract people due to mild weather, but don’t have enough affordable housing or services to support them. 2. Fire hydrants & water: Hydrants do have water, but during droughts or wildfires, water pressure can drop or be redirected. Some rural or older systems also struggle to maintain pressure. In rare cases, hydrants might fail or be dry due to infrastructure issues or tampering.
Basically, it’s a mix of systemic problems, mismanagement, and resource stress.

Fair enough then.
Although, you should probably still sort out the junkie/hydrant dilemma before you worry too much about becoming an exporting superpower. It just seems sensible.
