Early Diagnosis Neuropsychiatrist appt
My son is 3 technically undiagnosed but has an iep for autism . We have been waiting for this appt for 8 months . No one has actually been like your son has autism yet . Just looking for anything I should talk to her about. I have no idea . Any advice ? Thank you for reading.

Just create a list of all the reasons you believe he may have autism. I would also get a list from the school on all the things they see and a copy of his IEP. In addition, I would ask for their recommendations moving forward (other services, other doctors, support groups), and next steps.

Presumably your first appointment will either be a setup session or an ASD assessment. Either way, here are some questions I would consider.
How does the assessment work? How long do the results take?
How often do you see misdiagnoses?
How often do you see people "shed" the diagnosis?
What do you know about genetic testing? Do you recommend it?
Which other branches of medicine should we be consulting? Psychiatry? Gastroenterology?
Do you know of any support groups you can recommend?
What are my next steps?
