With holes cut to run the cables through so it can still be played. Maybe use adapters with the female end mounted to the outside of the display case.

That was necessary, no need to apologise. I think it would be a cool idea to keep it pristine while still being able to play it. You’d probably have to craft your own adapters for controllers and memory cards cause it’s not a standardised port but I’m sure I remember 3rd party addons that let you connect more stuff so you could rip the ports out of those, it can be done.
