The reason I bring up that "fun" fact is that I used to work in a hardware store back in the mid-late 2000's and one of the guys there used to work Search and Rescue up in Michigan around the bridge and he was part of the search for the driver. He said that after the event Search and Rescue began saying (of the bridge) "Yugo over, wego under."
Horrible situation...but catchy little phrase that I think of anytime someone mentions a Yugo.
I legitimately thought you were going to turn out to be the guy who turns every long explanation into "...in nineteen ninety-eight when The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer's table."
I think of the same thing immediately after hearing or seeing the word “Yugo”. I remember driving over the Mackinac Bridge the day after that happened while coming home from Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste Marie, and having a real uneasy feeling because my car wasn’t a whole lot bigger.
