Aussie possums (Trichosurus Vulpecula) (shown here obvi) are very different than US opossums (Didelphidae).
Both are marsupials but from different family trees. Kinda like cats and raccoons.
Random stuff:
The Virginia opossum has about 50 teeth and are voracious tick eaters. They are super shy, and while many people think them ugly they are really sweet, harmless, and super, super beneficial to environments with their tick eating.
The 'Brush'tail possum's tail is naked on the underside to grip branches. They are quite arboreal, love fruit, leaves, and flowers. Nothing quirky about them to note, but they are most adorable.
