Roadside area rug vendors
Anybody have any leads on a roadside area rug vendor? I bought a nice one at a great price in Winston around 8 years ago.
But I haven't seen one since.

BEND, Ore. -- Well over 1,000 protesters -- possibly as many as 2,000 -- lined the streets of downtown Bend Saturday in one of more than 1,200 organized protests nationwide against the policies of President Donald Trump and White House adviser Elon Musk. It was the largest of a half-dozen protests in Central Oregon reaching all three counties.
An estimated 800 rallied in Sisters Saturday morning, coinciding with a town hall event with Democratic U.S. Rep. Janelle Bynum. Another 400 to 500 waved signs in Redmond, countered by a handful of Trump supporters in pickups and SUVs. More than 100 rallied in downtown Prineville. Protests also happened in La Pine and Madras.
"I'm out here as an American, not one party or the other but as an American. And I don't think a lot of people realize that we're doing this for everybody, everybody in this country. And everyone's is going to be feeling the hurt at some point in time," Vashti Eppler said in Prineville.

The brisket is incredible. It should be like $20+, not $10. Just a PSA, Bend.

Great job Bend. If you weren’t there, it was like this on all four corners of Greenwood and Wall today. Kudos!

there is an older gentleman who rides his adult tricycle up and down 27th street…he’s always decked out in a hi-vis vest and tall flag in the back.
coming home from work yesterday there had been an accident just north of the high school on 27th…and i saw an adult tricycle, with a flag, on the side of the road and a car with the windshield smashed in.
i’m going to be soooo sad if it’s the amazing elderly tricycle dude…(well, i guess it’s sad regardless…). anyone know what happened?? or know anything about the tricycle guy?????

Hi 👋,
Anyone have recommendations on the best e-bike shop for purchase and service in Bend? I like the Aima bikes but am not sold on any particular brand.
Range, comfort, reliability, and weight- just the normal stuff. Would love to Ride The Rim at Crater Lake this year.
Thanks, Bendites. You’re the best. 🫶

I was enjoying a hot tub soak and at around midnight it went from very quiet to absurdly loud. At least two dogs. Maybe a coyote.
The sound was disturbing.
Did anyone else hear this, does anyone know what was up?

Does anyone have recommendations on good places to work around bend? I have 99% committed to moving and have picked out an apartment but really cannot seem to find a job on indeed that fits anything suitable. I’m not super picky about the kind of work but am picky about hours/pay. I’m mostly moving to ski and would like to be free in the mornings once the season rolls around butttttt have no restaurant experience. So I see how my request is hard but curious if anyone has any industries/opportunities I’m missing where I could work later in the day shifts. I have construction management, retail, and landscaping experience and have seemingly a lot more work experience then most people coming directly out of college. Unfortunately I just can’t bring myself to move until I have a job locked down. And no I don’t want to work at Mt. Bachelor. Don’t want to spend all my off days at my work place.

Anyone else just hear like 30+ gunshots near Old Farm District? Sounded like a decent size caliber maybe 7.62

Would anyone be willing to trade 2 night one (6/5) lawn tickets for 2 night two (6/6) lawn tickets?
I have a couple night one tickets and I want to go with some friends who ended up getting night two tickets. Thanks guys!

My husband and I are looking to take his parents out for dinner this weekend. Neither of us have food restrictions so this is pretty far out of my depth.
We’ve been to Wild Rose so we’d rather not take them there again…Anything extremely flexible around town where my MIL could find some options?
I think the cabana sand is a joke 😅 but she would like to eat outdoors since it will be nice. Not really a requirement.
Thank you! 🙏

On point Community credit union is telling me it takes them three days to get pesos! Making a last-minute trip down to Mexico and really hoping to carry some pesos with me. Is there really nowhere to get pesos on short notice in our fair city?
Edit : sounds like you legitimately cannot get short notice pesos in Bend. I don’t know why I find that so hard to believe, but OK. I think the plan of bringing a couple of ATM/debit cards with card issuers knowing I am going to be in Mexico is the best idea.
Thanks to everyone for your quick help. Won’t waste time driving around to different banks.

Y'all have come through for me in the past with really random requests. Here's another one:
I'm looking to buy maybe 400-500 stainless steel spoons to provide as part of our reusable serviceware program for Earth Day Fair vendors (and possibly other community events!). Two years ago, I went around to all the thrift stores and purchased spoons, but most didn't have many on hand. Putting this out there, in case any current or former food service businesses have extra, before I buy them from Webstaurantstore for $.10/spoon... which honestly isn't bad, but in case we can avoid redundancy.

TL;DR below due to length
Two weeks ago my wife was referred to a specialist at Summit Health for a potentially serious health issue. We checked out the specialist online and our Dr's recommendation seemed on target. This specialist seems uniquely qualified in the issue she's dealing with. And the specialist was listed as accepting new patients on the Summit website.
We called and despite our insurance not requiring referrals Summit insisted we get one sent over before booking. That was already in the works so the scheduler's request we call back seemed reasonable.
The referral has now been sent three times. Fax numbers confirmed and reconfirmed. Summit referrals even called the Dr office directly to confirm the fax numbers.
Today we were told by the Summit referral person that they "forgot" that they weren't accepting referrals from any other system besides Summit's. Stated this policy was implemented a few weeks ago. Oh, and they still won't acknowledge the referral(s) sent.
Now with a two week delay in care (it's that kind of issue) we are starting over again.
Anyone run into this before?
TL;DR -Summit delays for two weeks before "remembering" that despite their site stating a specific specialist is accepting new patients, a policy has been in place to not accept patients referred by an outside physician

A lot of local businesses are staring into the abyss with all the exciting tariff news.
But the weather is lovely today! Come down for First Friday Art Walk from 5-8pm. At Expedition Club, mention this Reddit post and you get 25% off anything in the store, excluding original art and telescopes. However, I do have bundle deals available for telescopes and they all come with a free lesson and support. We might not carry them for awhile if the tariffs take hold, so if you were thinking about getting one, maybe now is your chance.
Here’s Downtown Bend’s announcement for tonight:
“We’re excited to invite you to a special First Friday celebration tomorrow from 5-8 PM, featuring a "Youth Art Takeover" theme! This event highlights the creative talents of our young artists, and we can’t wait to showcase their work and celebrate their contributions to our vibrant downtown. An awards ceremony will also be held on Friday, April 4th at 6:30 pm at the Commons Café courtyard
As part of the festivities, we’ll be hosting "Chalk the Block"—a community-wide art activity where over 20 buckets of chalk will be set up throughout downtown. We encourage everyone, young and old, to grab a piece of chalk and create your own masterpiece on the sidewalks of downtown Bend. It’s a fantastic way to express your creativity while adding to the lively atmosphere of the evening.
Additionally, look out for balloons displayed outside participating businesses. These businesses are joining in the celebration of youth art, and we’re thrilled to have their support in making this First Friday event a true community effort.”

Bring yourself, your dog, kids with or without a sign. Let’s Get Loud!
Why: Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them. We are fighting back!
They're taking everything they can get their hands on—our health care, our data, our jobs, our services—and daring the world to stop them. This is a crisis, and the time to act is now.
On Saturday, we're taking to the streets to fight back with a clear message: Hands off!
This mass mobilization day is our message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy for the benefit of Trump and his billionaire allies. Alongside Americans across the country, we are marching, rallying, and protesting to demand a stop the chaos and build an opposition movement against the looting of our country.
A core principle behind all Hands Off! events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
Check out handsoff2025.com for more information.
This protest is in coordination with Indivisible Sisters, Indivisible Redmond, Vocal Seniority and Bend Action Coalition

Was just announced to employees thru email.
I just moved here a week ago and now my 2012 Mini is leaking coolant. A pretty significant leak too. Does anyone have a good mechanic to reccomend? Maybe one that specializes in German cars? Or on the flip side, someone to avoid? Thanks!

Just to say that Dana, the owner, is lovely. I’ve organized a fiber arts meetup there three times now and Dana and her staff are so nice and accommodating. She also does all of the food truck cooking so shes a busy gal. I noticed they do allow dogs inside, but the puppers were all well behaved. At 4:45, my pint of Viscous Mosquito beer was $5! I’m rooting for Dana and hope the place thrives.
Parking was a bitch but I’ve been told as soon as the yoga class crowd leaves at 5, spaces open up.
