Mod Announcement The Boise Subreddit Is Emphatically Stating This.
r/Boise stands unwavering in support of reproductive rights, affirming the right for all individuals to make personal choices about pregnancy, and we stand equally committed to defending the rights and dignity of the LGBTQ+ community
Moving forward, we will not tolerate hostility towards either of these topics. There has been a marked increase of people chanting white power and more in this subreddit. The moderation team wants to state, we stand with those that are in fear for their rights and we stand firmly against bigots.
Regardless of your subject, if you can't make your point without using slurs, bigotry or dog whistles, you'll be banned without hesitation.

Discussion To Survivors who Attended the Protest Today
You don’t owe anyone anything. If you haven’t reported your abuse, that’s okay. It’s not your job to do that unless it feels right for you and supports your healing.
The truth is, most survivors have already been failed—by people, by systems, and by agencies that were supposed to show up and didn’t. So I want to say that it makes complete sense if you do not trust those systems that did not keep you safe in the past to keep you safe in the future.
Your only responsibility is only to yourself.
I have so much respect for those who choose to report or speak out, and I believe that kind of bravery matters. But we can’t expect survivors to be the ones who end cycles of abuse. That weight should’ve never been on your shoulders in the first place.
Your healing is enough.

Politics Anyone else surprised?
I can't shake the feeling that the organizers at the Hands Off Boise protest were working from a very different memo than the one the rest of us got. After the 5th detailed SA trauma dump in a row, I had to join the mobs of people leaving.
I felt a real lack of any call to action, but rather personal trauma and revenge feelings (which are justified!!!) that really overwhelmed any of the energy that I had expected from such a huge crowd who had shown up to protest the current administration.
This is not to question the validity of the speakers' experiences or feelings, but rather a comment on effective organizing and expectations vs reality from the organizers.
Anyone else at the Boise protest feel the same way?

Discussion Men’s mental health ride
Hi, I’m just trying to gage interest before going through the steps. I’m trying to put together a motorcycle ride to bring awareness to men’s mental health and create a platform for men to begin conversations around things we neglect at the cost of ourselves and our families. Feel free to dm me but if you’re a rider in the Treasure Valley, is this something you would be interested in?
Meetup group to follow for regular meetups but this would be an annual event seeking sponsorships and community support.

Discussion Is there a protest at the Capitol today?
I thought they were finally doing a protest that wasn't in the middle of the day during the work week. I looked on the 50501 site but am not seeing Boise.
Edit: Apparently they are teaming up with Women's Right Movement event that was already scheduled for today.

Question Good busking locations?
I’m a trumpet player and want to start busking more often, but am not sure of the best spots to set up. Ideally I want a place with a decent amount of foot traffic but also where I won’t disrupt nearby businesses! Any recommendations?

Question Activities for older adults?
Hi, I'm looking for suggestions for things to do with my 80+ parents, we can only do so many lunches 😁 They are not super fit, use a walker so hiking and activities like that don't work. I think I will take them to the Warhawk Museum but really searching for other ideas to get them out a bit more. Any suggestions?
