Recommendations Shows reminiscent of Peep Show and Inbetweeners?
Hello there, im a 21 yo Dutch guy (so dont know much about British tv) but i watched the Inbetweeners a few years back and really loved it, watched it again recently and still do. Its really funny and has a sense of realism to me. I love how the characters just seem like random blokes and not some hotshot actors, and they just do stupid teenager shit you would expect them to do, with great character dynamics. The slang and accents make everything so much better. Neils dad is not bloody bent!
After rewatching the Inbetweeners i found out about Peep Show (through the comments on the song Flagpole Sitta which is just a song i love lol), and i really found myself enjoying it. It was such a big comfort show to me and i blew through the show in like a week. Such a great cast of characters and very funny. Dialogue was very witty. Loved watching Mark and Jez clash with each other and chase after random women all the time lol. And Superhans is one of my favourite characters in any show now lmao
Peep Show reminded me a bit of Inbetweeners and i loved both shows so i am wondering if there is more British tv like this you could recommend me. Something perhaps you could relate to and laugh at. I never really watch comedies but these British shows seem to do it right. Cheers!

Recommendations Shows like This is England (‘86-‘90)
Just finished rewatching This is England. I love the improvised way everything is directed/performed in that show. Makes for some of the most realistic arguments I’ve ever seen in a piece of media. I also really liked Adolescence and the Virtues. Any recommendations for something similar?

Question/Discussion Your favourite early roles from now established actors
I love it when an actor gets big and I cast back into my memory to realise I remember them from some small role many years ago…
- Damian Lewis as a fresh-faced medical student in an episode of Poirot
- John Simm as a juvenile delinquent in an episode of Rumpole of the Bailey
- Charlie Cox as a troubled maths student in the pilot of Lewis
- Ian Glenn as Hamlet in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead
What are your favourite early roles from actors?

Just watched Ghostwatch and was floored. Really want to checkout the behind-the-scenes. Does anyone know if it's available for streaming/is there a link to some British library website or something with it haha

Question/Discussion Old ‘classic’ comedy sketch show
So about a year ago i was recommended the sketch show French and Saunders and I must say the movie spoofs and the music video parodies are 9/10 times hilarious but apart from that all the sketches in between I just don’t laugh at. Now I live Dawn French in the Vicar of Dibley and Jennifer in AbFab but as for F&S it’s really a 5/10 for me

Question/Discussion Why does ITV4 air some weird 15 second clips?
There was one with a bald guy at the train, an alien invasion In the field, a race in the cafe, and a group of people in odd suits on bikes at the beach. And I thought 4seven had strange idents... I swear if nobody comments a full summary (I'm not the best at it) or anything I will rage Edit: I raged

Meta Is it possible to read other people's OFCOM complaints?
Apologies if this is the wrong subreddit, but it seemed relevant because of OFCOM.
We hear about X number of complaints made about Y program from time to time. Is it possible to gain access to them to see what they say?

Question/Discussion Is it normal for British TV to have long takes, as seen in Adolesence?
Just finished watching Adolesence and am beyond impressed by the production and acting; those two aspects alone make it an amazing work. The subject matter and how they presented it of course is amazing as well. I don't know much about the production, but it sure looks like they filmed each episode in one long take. Even if it was a few long ones spliced together, even those long takes are totally impressive.
Are productions with long takes a normal thing in British TV?

Recommendations People who don’t enjoy his movies or Gervais as an actor should definitely watch “After Life” his performance is very restrained and shows serious dramatic chops.

Question/Discussion Forgotten the name of a Comedy Central show…?
My mind has gone blank, but I just remembered a Comedy Central show and for the life of me can’t remember the name of it! It was filmed/broadcast around Covid time and was slightly taskmaster-ish from what I recall, but all studio based. Liza Tarbuck was either the host or one of the contestants. Pretty sure it only ran for one series…
