Roommate won’t share actual electric bills. could i stop paying her?
hi folks. I am in a four bedroom apartment. We’re all on the lease. The electric account is in one Roommate’s name though. this afternoon she tells me to pay up my share for last month, that i had taken up a whole month to pay making her miss the deadline. when in reality, she had missed the payment date, and only sent the venmo request two days after the due date which was march 26th. apparently the bill for was double the usual amount which is a first time for me. i asked her for a copy of the bill but she doesn’t acknowledge that request nor does she send the bill ever. this has happened a couple more times. the last she did this was when she had sent my roommate and i six to seven months worth of coned requests in one go.
what are my options? can i refuse to pay if she doesn’t send me the bills?

Need Advice on Selling Bulk Clothes
Hey all! My friend is trying to sell 7 trash bags full of women's clothing. They're a mix of vintage and new, mostly sizes M-XL and the shoes will be 7.5-9! She is flexible on the price really just want to get rid of them. Essentially she doesn't want to sell them individually, but also wants a decent deal.
Any ideas on how to go about this? My first thought was to find someone who sells at BK flea and inquire with them.

Beginner friendly volleyball games
Hi all,
I’ve been looking for tournaments that are truly beginner friendly in the NYC area, albeit to no avail.
I would like to gather a few people together who want to play volleyball more casually as opposed to in a competitive setting. BK has so many free options that we could entertain - though might be a bit harder to find a spot as the summer approaches.
Please reply to this post if this would be of interest to you! Really passionate about playing and getting to know more folks, would truly appreciate the opportunity.

advice for summer job
I’m an irish student staying in Brooklyn this summer, and had a job all lined up at a popular bar in the downtown area (which I won’t name for their privacy), but the manager that I’ve been speaking with has just started ghosting me out of nowhere. I’m really panicking because he needs to fill out some employment forms for my visa, which I’ve already paid €1000 for😭 it takes 6 weeks for the employer forms to be vetted so it all has to be asap. The manager told me he’d have no problem filling them out, so I hadnt any other job lined up, but I haven’t heard from him for a couple of weeks. Could anyone recommend some local places that are busy and might hire for the summer? Would really appreciate a few leads 🙏🏻

Walking Brooklyn, Jan-Mar 2025 & since May 2019
Nicer weather is finally coming along with later sunsets.
I filled in some gaps, some north-south streets in Bed-Stuy, streets in Carroll Gardens and Midwood. And made it into Brownville.
Some random notes:
The distance from Fulton to Eastern Parkway isn't much more to add, and the 3/4 train is more helpful than the A/C train.
Those north-south streets were much busier and noisier than the east-west streets.
I started updating my walking blog (https://walkininbrooklyn.blogspot.com/), but depending on the amount of free time I have, some entries are bunches of photos without much commentary. I still have to teach and grade papers, and I've been writing more.
I passed Grand Army Plaza a few times as I finish off some streets in Prospect Heights and do some streets in Park Slope. They're much easier to do when I'm walking down the slope.
And I finished with my old stomping grounds. I wish I'd realized sooner that I could just take the G into 7th Avenue and walk north or south from there. I always think in terms of going south to get closer to home.
Side note: I've been passing a lot of Little Free Libraries, and now I've been looking for them. Thanks to whoever it was who suggested downloading the app. I've found and left a couple of books.

I don’t know anything about cars and want to buy from a private seller — where can I get a pre-purchase inspection done?
As the title says, I don’t know much (or anything) about cars, but I’m planning to buy one from a private seller. I want to make sure I’m not walking into a money pit, so I’m looking to get a pre-purchase inspection done before buying.
Does anyone have tips on where or how to get that done? Should I take it to a regular mechanic, or are there specific services for this? I’m open to mobile inspectors too if that’s a thing.
I know mentioning an inspection might scare off sellers with shady cars, but I plan to be upfront about it and let them know from the start that I won’t buy without one.
Any advice is appreciated — especially for someone who doesn’t know what to look for in a used car!

Best gluten free/ dairy free pizza
Hi! I in recent months have had to stop eating gluten and dairy for health reasons. I miss pizza the most of anything. The ultimate gluten and dairy combo.
Does anyone have any good recommendations for a gluten and dairy free pizza spot in Brooklyn? Specially where the gluten free crust doesn’t make the pizza taste like it’s on cardboard 😂
Thanks in advance
