Question Should I move fonts?

Post image

Hi Family! So I’m want to up my majiscule game and find it hard to see my self using what was provided when I first stared. Maybe I’m just not comfortable with the not so straight down strokes.

Would you recommend I move on to another font like this one which I really like or keep practicing on what makes me uncomfortable till I’m better at it?

1 mm Brause nib and 1.5mm PPP.

Text and script by Guillaume le Gangneur d’Angevin. I struggled a bit with the letter « a ». Ironcially, this text explains how to write this letter .

Also, I’m new at flourishing, as you can see it’s shaky.

What to take into consideration when buying an oblique pen holder?

Beginner here. I’ve been using brush pens for a while and want to try pointed pen. I’m at John Neal’s website and there are so many options for oblique pen holders. Aside from getting one with a metal flange and not plastic, I’m not sure what else to take into consideration and how to choose one. Any advice is welcome, thanks!

Tools of the Trade I made an organizer for Winsor Newton Inks

I apologize if this doesn't belong here. I use these for painting, but I don't think a lot of people do, so I figured I'd share this with a community that may have a use for it. I needed it and couldn't find anyone else who had made one. I have little to no idea what I'm doing with tinkercad but it worked. I uploaded it for anyone who'd benefit from organizing these :)

If this isn't allowed I'm sorry. I don't think I get anything or benefit from anyone using my file, it's all free.

How much to charge for wedding signs/place cards calligraphy?

My best friend is getting married next month. I have been asked to make ~175 name cards, 18 table numbers, reserved seating signs, and 4-5 larger signs (although the larger signs are less work since they're large sandwich boards). What is a fair price to charge, since they are really good friends but it will take a lot of work? This is my first time getting paid to do a project like this, so I don't have references to go off of.

Trying the Nikko G nib and I’m not digging it, but I know that’s just because I had unreal expectations. What’s a good script to learn with a dip pen and pointed nib?

Left is Esterbrook 355 and right is Esterbrook 356

The Esterbrook 355 and 356 nibs each offer a unique writing experience and both are vintage nibs. The 356 is sturdier with less flexibility, making it great for controlled strokes and bold shading. I like to write it for Spencerian and Engrosser’s script.

In contrast, the 355 is highly flexible, allowing for delicate, subtle shades with a lighter touch. Despite their differences, both nibs can hold a good amount of ink in a single dip, so don’t be misled by the ink hole design—each delivers a smooth and consistent ink flow throughout your strokes. I use it to write English Roundhand.

Have you used these vintage nibs? Which one is your favourite?

still don't understand /why preview or full image ? / why downvoting a calligraphic model ?

i'm not sure there's something to save on digital world, not by the meaning of people but by the stupidity of the system - once you reached the servitude of the tool you got a larger one by feeding people to their wishes - and for this we destroy the earth

I need some recomandation on how to begin. It's a lot of information, and I feel that I need some quidence. I was searching for a lot of shetts, but I found out that are incomplete. Some are just the upper later, or just some words.. From where do you buy/download your practice sheets? What was the best things that you begin with? What you know now that you wish to knew when you first started? Or just what are your advice for a new bigginer?
