Recommendations 2 8s On a 98 Ford Ranger XLT

Post image

Hey guys, I just bought a pair of DEAF BONCE APOCALYPSE DB-SA2508 for my extended cab Ranger. I’m hoping to have a custom enclosure built for them tuned to around 37Hz to go directly on the back of my passenger or driver side seat (1 need to be able to leave one side available for a passenger). I was wondering if anyone has had a similar set up on their truck and what would you guys recommend so these subs can best perform.

I’ll be pushing these subs with an Orion XTR 1500.1.

Why 37hz? Rock music?

I listen to everything but do lean more towards rock music. I previously had a 15 inch Sundown with a box tuned to 37hz and I like the fact that I got a little bit of both the lows and punch. Unfortunately that box was too big for what I’m trying to accomplish with this build so I had to sell it. I know 8s are known to be more on the “punch” side because of their size, so I’m just trying to get an idea of what people have experienced with subs this size.

I got 2 dd 2508 8in subs at 32hz. They hit really hard for what they are. But do lack on higher end bass. I still suggest you go ported tho.

So would you recommend I go 37hz or 32? And any pics you could share of your setup?

I’d recommend 34-35. I’m not with my truck at the moment. You’ll get the best all around. Imo. I just like the low notes more.

Fs is 35Hz, so I'd say 32-35Hz would be preferred. I like the lower tuning to spread out the peak and don't mind giving up the bit in the tuned portion.

If you know you want max power in 38-44ish range it may be worth the higher tuning and giving up some in the lowest lows. Your poor rear seat passenger though...

You could probably fit a parallel 6th in there and do 30-45Hz, it would not be discreet though lol.

Yeah, I was thinking a design like this standing straight right behind one of the seats. lol
