Tech Support Does RMS change?

I just bought a skar sdr 10 because my alpine blew up (ik I shoulda got another alpine scar audio quality blah blah blah it's fine I know I could ) done better for money spent.

Anywaysss it came wired for 1 ohm and I re wired it for 4 ohms. I was wondering if because I re wired it for 4 ohms if the RMS would change. Can I push more? Can I push less?

Also I have an amp that can do 800 watts @4ohms and I was wondering how hard you can push skars. Some people have said you can just throw power at em and it'll take it or if there not as bulletproof as people say.

TLDR: can I push 800watts @4ohms on this. And. Does making it 4ohm mess with RMS Thanks guys

No, each coil can still take the same amount of power.

Is this like a home theater amp or something?

No it's a shitty boss audio amp my friend gave me it's like 8 years old but brand new I just have no use for it so I figured why not

Not making 800 into any ohm load.

Ik it's garbage but if it's being marketed as 800w @4ohms it can't be tooooo far off can it? Think it might make around 600?

The good Walmart brand (Power Acoustik) makes about 1/4th the number on the box.

It's probably the same A/B setup as these Orion Cobalts that I always find broken. Those are 300W into 2Ohms.

It can because that rating is probably at 1000hz with 10% distortion which is acceptable when hooked up to gear making measurements but unacceptable when playing through a speaker. With an acceptable .5% or .01% distortion it may be as low as 80-100 watts

That's Boss amp is probably lucky to be pushing 200w RMS at 2 ohm. Their amps are severally over rated watts wise. What model is it? Does it at least have more then one fuse in the side of it?

I'm out and about right now but I'll check the fuse on it. It's a 2012 boss audio imp2000m. I normally run alpine or Kenwood but my buddy gave it to me so I just haven't used it. It's still got the plastic on the box

I couldn't find any dynos on that amp but looks like it has two 25a fuses. My guess would be 300w RMS at the most. You could test it yourself if you have a multimeter.

I'd need to go buy an amp meter bc somehow I lost mine but I'll probably just buy a different amp that'll match the sub save me some hassle. Thanks man

There was a time zed made amps for boss that actually put out the numbers. What is the model number?

It's a 2012 imp2000m from boss audio

Ya, that's too new to be zed, also that amp is only 2 ohm stable.

I was thinking so. Oh well I'll get another amp

Stinger mt2000.1 is a great amplifier. Not expensive either.

That is a 600 Watt RMS sub. What is the make/model of the amp? I almost guarantee you it doesn’t do 800 W at 4 ohms.

It's an old shitty boss audio I've had for like 8 years it's brand new just haven't had a use for it

Ok. What model?

It's a 2012 boss audio imp2000m monoblock

Monoblocks usually need to have a 1ohm sub hooked to it for its best performance.

Whats the fuse rating on the amp? 30 amp fuses are pretty much standard for 200w RMS output amps.
