Engine Performance Why does diesel motor oil taste better than other oil?
Why does diesel motor oil taste better than other oil?
I've been trying a bunch of different oils in my car lately (as I burn lots of oil). And have tried using thick heavy Diesel oil.
Why does something like 45 weight diesel oil taste better than 50 weight or 30 weight gas oil? Is it the zinc?

Diesel oil is low SAPs, SAPs taste a bit yucky though some people think it gives the oil a bit of zing. Not my taste.
Oil weight is strictly a personal preference but if you're thirsty 20 weight goes down faster than 40 weight.
50 weight is more of a dessert thing.

The best tasting oil is the one you let simmer in the oil pan for a few thousand miles. You need time for the flavor of the blowby to really seep into the oil.
