Cats in desperate need of new homes

Hi all,

I have a friend of a friend who has been an irresponsible owner and not neutered their cat. He has got 16 kittens living in his house - all under the age of 1 apart from the gorgeous tabby. I have contacted local animal organisations - they were going to be sold free of charge but that won’t be happening to ensure safety. If you are interested, please message me and I can you send you his way. I’m not the owner - I’m only doing this so that these kittens are in the safest hands and organisations and extremely underfunded and have low capacity. They are based in Croydon, South London.

Hey, appreciate these are not your cats but your friend’s, so not sure how much say you have in what happens to them. Are any of the charities helping you out with checking out their new homes?

I have previously worked with rescue animals and some of the stories I hear of pets who were sold on the internet are absolutely awful, like shit that can keep me up at night 10 years later :( if you can, please please insist on a vetting process for the new owners so they don’t come to harm!

I’ve contacted Battersea and Croydon animals Samaritans, and will call another organisation that a Redditor suggested. I completely agree - the internet is not a safe place. Anyone who messages me I will send them his way and he has said that he will ensure that they are checked and vetted. Thanks for the consideration and advice!

Try Cats Protection too, and local vets who may have better connections.

Thank you for everything you're doing 🙏 I already have two kittens around their age otherwise I would adopt. They look just like my cats. I hope they all find safe homes.

If you're in South London, try Celia Hammond as well. They might be able to help

Yes they are fantastic. I’ve just started enquiries with them to adopt myself (in SE London). They do thorough checks, the vet bits, and adore their animals.

I have a 15 year old cat who is living with CHF otherwise I'd absolutely take one, possibly two.

Perhaps a shelter outside London may have more space? You can also try vet surgeries, they tend to have networks who foster cats.

I’m not going to take one either.

Damn it's a shame im in Wales, I've been thinking about a second cat for a while as my boy only has the dog to play with and the dog would rather nap. But that's too far to go for a cat.

I travelled just over 3 hours to get one of mine, but i do understand that it’s a long journey

I don't drive so it would be a long journey for the cat on public transport too.

I would put this in the Croydon sub if you haven't already! Good luck
