She's happy in our new home
We get the sun all afternoon. This is the most important thing to consider when you own a chihuahua

Finicky Eater / Chronic Tummy Issues
My 5 year old apple head chi is a very finicky eater. She ended up in the vets office two weeks ago with bloody diarrhea after missing a few meals. The vet said she got in to the office just in time because her blood results were bad and was suffering from a bad bacterial infection in her gut. Her potassium was low enough that she was concerned about her heart. She was hospitalized, put on an IV and meds. Her appetite returned the night she came home and after 2 weeks we appeared to turn the corner. I kept feeding her boiled chicken, white rice and pumpkin as she seemed really interested in the offering these last 2 weeks. Today I gave her 2 meals of just chicken and now we are back where we started, tummy troubles, diarrhea and this evening blood in her stool.
I am kicking myself because I feel like this is my fault. I don’t know what to do besides another trip to the vet. Has anyone treated their chi for similar tummy issues? What did you do to help turn the corner or prevent this from happening again? I love this dog, I don’t neglect her at all but her finicky food selection constantly has me anxious because this is the usual end result when she lets too much time pass btwn meals.
TIA!

Chihuahua Flair?
How did y'all get your little icons/your dog(s)' names under your name? I figured out the one flair, but it looks like some of you have multiple?

Released From Jail!
And by jail, I mean heart worm exercise restriction! Stella slowly gets to become more active over the new few weeks and let me tell you, we’re both excited.
Also, in case a PSA needs to be said: put your pups on heart worm prevention all year round. I adopted Stella as HW+ and she did the full, intense and miserable treatment protocol… and had to go back through it when she still came back positive 9 months due to such a severe load. It’s so hard. All that to say, I know preventatives are expensive, but as someone who has been on the HW+ journey for over a year with my girl, every penny is worth it.

I included a picture of Orla's long distance friend, Olive, from track 3. She's a Great Dane and she's a sweetheart 😎

Getting over that fear?
I've almost had Kricket for fours years now and I am still super anxious every time I take him outside. I've never had a dog smaller than 10 pounds. So I never worried about the birds of prey(I live in Alabama). But with him being only 4 pounds I have been anxious since the day he came home about him going outside. I also since getting him now have neighbors who let their large dog roam outside(I live in the country). My worries haven't been helped by the amount of Tiktoks I have seen of small dogs that were attacked or ended by predators or other dogs.
I am always right next to him and he is always on a leash. But I still worry that if a predator is desperate enough for food it'll still try. I recently learned about coyote vests. And I am for my piece of mind highly considering getting one. I was wondering people's thoughts, experiences and opinions on these and the effectiveness? He's still not going outside alone. But the extra protection could be nice.

Lua is coming home!
Just wanted to post this cute picture of Lua as she makes her way home to my wife and I!
A year ago I lost my job forcing us to relocate to a new state to stay with my in laws. They are not dog people and said we couldn’t bring our girl with us while we stayed with them. Lua stayed with my parents where she was pampered and had a friend to spend time with (parents dog).
My wife and I finally were able to get into our new place after a year! It’s been a long year and of course we went home to see our baby a couple times. But we are so grateful she is coming to be home with us!
Give your chi’s some cuddles from Louie 🐻 these dogs truly are a gift ❤️
