But Labour bought in that Digital Identity Bill last year, surely that's going to be the start of something here in NZ right? So many people were up in arms about it, it's def the start of..some social credit score thing, with a cashless society and 15 minute cities!!
Pretty easy for a Govt to control the population of a 15 minute city. Tie it into social credits, people look at China and its behaviour during Covid, they are rightfully wary.
And then we have the..you've missed the point aspect. If you are talking 15minute cities, you will probably come across the 'Oxford barriers', where people are blocked from going between suburbs, ohh big Govt control, surveillance etc. The point is that yes, they are blocked, but its because people cutting through suburbs causes massive traffic issues.
Its an interesting look at how things might shape out. But people don't bother to read it, and miss this part
My biggest concern is all the people who do not live in our city. Those we lost on the way. Those who decided that it became too much, all this technology. Those who felt obsolete and useless when robots and AI took over big parts of our jobs. Those who got upset with the political system and turned against it. They live different kind of lives outside of the city. Some have formed little self-supplying communities. Others just stayed in the empty and abandoned houses in small 19th century villages.
