Universal Credit (UC) ESA to UC migration

Hi,

I’ve got schizophrenia and was receiving ESA. I then got the UC migration letter so I filled out the relevant stuff on the website but now I’ve received a text message regarding an appointment for my ESA?

I thought since I’m migrating to UC, esa would effectivly be closed?

Also on my latest payment, I’m receiving significantly less than what I was a month ago. They seem to be deducting ESA so not sure what’s going on

Any advice would be appreciated

Because you were support group you have CB based ESA with a Income based top up.

The income based bit is being moved to UC but around £600 a month will stay as CB and be deducted from UC.

So you'll get ESA every 2 weeks and the income bit from UC once a month.

ATM this would be approx (2024/5 rates so will go up in Mayish) :

Week 2: 276 ESA Week 4: 276 ESA Week 5/ end of month : £809-598 ESA. = 211 ISH + housing element if appropriate.

UC is calculated monthly so it's the 2 weekly payment x26 /12.

If you want to you can close the CB ESA to just receive the one payment per month but it gives a non means tested benefit and a higher type of NI.

Being in the support group has nothing to do with it but other than that your advice is correct.
