Mud volcanoes are formed when pressurized mud, water, and gasses erupt from the surface, often creating cones or domes. This might be fairly obvious, but they're not related to magma at all, so they are not true 'volcanoes'.

Fun facts about mud volcanoes: Mud volcanoes are often found on the seafloor. Also, the mud that erupts from them is rich in halite, or rock salt. They can be up to 700 meters high, and 10 kilometers wide (around 2,300 feet high and 6 miles wide).

These are some beautiful pictures, by the way.

My hometown has geysers, I'm guessing it's the same concept with one having more pressure and water as a resource than the other.

For me the most interesting bit about this place is that reaching it takes you through places with lots of vegetation, but once there it’s like you landed on the moon, the difference is astounding

Exactly, you get the weird feeling of being on another planet over there.

Yep, the Gypsys harvest it and export it around the globe.

"That's dragon diarrhea!" Ron cried enthusiastically. "My brother Charlie works there!"

The corners of Hermione's mouth curled up in amusement, and she pretended to look out the window.

Mudslide Wednesday always follows Taco Tuesday. Usually it's early morning.
