Political News/Discussion If tarriffs remain and Trumo declares Marshall law, is civil war inevitable?
I've seen rumors circulating that trump wants to declare Marshall law on 4/20 and will site the foriegn enemies act to do it. If this were to happen while the economy is in free fall, I have the odds of a civil war at around 60%. If this scenario plays out, what are your odds on a civil war?

Shitpost Serious proposal: Should we advocate for the replacement of the Statue of Liberty?
Think about it:
-Clearly a DEI hire
-They intentionally made her masculine and ugly (block jaw, rags for clothes)
-Basically a foreigner from France
-Her skin color was changed for no reason (blatant pandering via race-swapping)
-Has a stupid poem about "huddled masses" = Suicidal empathy
-Always shoved down our throat as a symbol of America
The Statue has gone WOKE. I propose a new one based on President Trump that also pays tribute to being in New York.

Political News/Discussion Avatar is the perfect example of non cringe woke
Yesterday a chatter came in to Destiny's stream and was asking about how it's hard to be woke and not cringe and brought up Avatar the Last Airbender as an example, unfortunately Destiny hasn't seen peak, even though I think this show is the PERFECT example of non cringe woke and how to execute that when you juxtapose it to its sequal series Legend of Korra
In avatar the last Airbender you have countless strong females characters. Katara, Suki, Yue, Toph, Azula, Tai Lee, Mei, and I'm sure others im forgetting
The way avatar does this perfectly is by making these female characters strong by showing us rather than telling us and preaching about
Katara and Suki both have points early on about sexism and you could say this is "preachy" but the reason no one complains about it is because they've already been shown to be capable warriors, Katara through her waterbending and Suki through her martial skills. The reason they can escape with being a bit preachy and calling out the initially sexist character of Sokka is because they've already been shown to be capable and Sokka is being demeaning towards them as woman purely as a form of cope because he knows and the audience knows they have proven themselves to be respected fighters
We also see this with the rest of the female charactes I've mentioned, they're always shown to be strong and capable and badass so preachinness is never even needed cause the audience just sees all of these strong female characters who've earned their respect especially with Toph they do this well because she constantly says "Im the strongest there is" but she's already proven to be capable and she doesn't reference her gender because honestly it's unimportant toph is just that good and she happens to be a girl.
Now we can juxtapose this to the follow up series The Legend of Korra
This shows protagonist is fucking cringe and painful to watch because throughout the entire show especially the beginning she basically earns nothing and the show clearly gives off the vibes of "I'm a strong female protagonist". We don't see her earn her bending skills with the 3 elements she knows at the beginning. She doesn't actually earn Airbendending, she just randomly gets it when the story says she needs it, and she doesn't earn the control of the avatar state she's just given it, making all of her "triumphs" feel unearned and her professed strength annoying. This is essentially a constant throughout the show as she tries to throw around this tough energy that's been unearned and then being beaten or outsmarted by enemies but still keeps this energy. This is the type of unearned cringe woke feeling I think is shown here
Even the other female character in the show Asami is a better example of strong and unpreachy. Asami knows martial arts, is a capable fighter, an inventor, and can run her father's business and hold herself together after her father is arrested. She does all these things cause these are just part of her as a character without the cringe sort of preachy "strong female protagonist" feel that korra gives off
Anyways that's my tedtalk I think this show is the perfect example destiny should watch it lmao, lemme know what you guys think

Political News/Discussion The "actual" genius of Donald Trump
Trump is a moron in nearly every regard, I've said it over and over again, and I stick to it. But I do think there is ONE thing that he is almost a genius with, an idiot savant if you will, and that thing is double-speaking around everything he does so that no matter what the outcome is, it looks like he "won."
Take the tariffs for instance, Trump has said that these tariffs will both "bring manufacturing back to the US" and "help us negotiate better trade deals." Now here's the thing, these are almost mutually exclusive. If the tariffs are to bring manufacturing back, they need to be long-term to protect investments on-shores. If they are a negotiating tool, then they are by definition, short-term.
But here's the genius. Everyone is already talking about what the "real" goal behind the tariffs are, are they are negotiating tool? Are they a long term strategy? Here's the truth, Trump doesn't even know! He's just giving himself an out no matter what happens.
So if he gets pressured too hard and has to take the tariffs off, he shows how some tiny, insignificant country capitulated to his tariffs and calls it a great success! And of course he HAD to make the tariffs LOOK like they were long-term just so he could get a good deal right? It was all part of his 5D chess!
If he has to keep the tariffs on, he just tells everyone this is part of his grand strategy to bring manufacturing back, and they just have to believe in the plan!
The dude does this doublespeak crap with almost everything he does. It's the ONE thing about him that is kind of genius, unfortunately it's also insanely dishonest by nature.

Political News/Discussion The issue with deterrence I've found is most people do not know what it means.
usa.embassy.gov.auSomeone on stream was going through the brainlet talking points about US foreign policy and he had no grasp of deterrence or seemingly different nations and cultures might have different motivations and ideological meanings attached to that word.
I’m linking an excellent lecture from the ambassador of Australia to the US that I think does a excellent job at highlighting how two nations with different ideological frameworks approach something like deterrence and how those differences can result in poorly informed and misguided escalatory action. Worth giving it read, Dr. Rudd is a very sharp cookie and an excellent communicator.

Political News/Discussion My thoughts on the Consequences of the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election
The Consequences of the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election
There is a compelling argument to be made that the United States would be in a more stable and constitutionally sound position had Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election. While this may appear counterintuitive to some, the current state of American democratic institutions suggests a concerning erosion of the checks and balances that are fundamental to our constitutional system—erosion that has only accelerated following his return to power.
Three months into Donald Trump’s second term, we are witnessing a systematic breakdown of the democratic framework. The judicial branch, stacked during Trump’s first term, has shown increasing deference to his administration. When courts do attempt to assert their authority, their rulings are often disregarded by the executive branch. Meanwhile, the legislative branch has abdicated its oversight responsibilities, refusing to hold the administration accountable through impeachment or other constitutional mechanisms. Violations of the law, abuses of power, and the issuance of unlawful orders go unchallenged. The result is a growing vacuum of accountability.
Trump’s first term, while controversial, was relatively uneventful in terms of systemic damage. He appointed three Supreme Court justices, leading to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and repealed the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act. However, his refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election marked a turning point. Fueled by disinformation, he and his allies propagated the narrative that the election was “stolen,” a claim that was thoroughly debunked but nonetheless embraced by large segments of his political base. This belief has since become a cornerstone of the MAGA movement’s political worldview, fostering a climate in which no conspiracy theory about Democratic subversion seems implausible.
Rather than accept defeat, Trump attempted to subvert the democratic process. His now-infamous speech on January 6, 2021, incited a protest that escalated into a violent assault on the U.S. Capitol. While chaos unfolded outside, a more insidious plot was unfolding behind the scenes: the creation of fraudulent slates of electors. These individuals, not lawfully appointed by their respective states, falsely claimed electoral authority in an attempt to disrupt the certification of the election results. The ultimate goal was to delay or invalidate enough state results so that Vice President Mike Pence could discard them, potentially triggering either a Trump victory or a contingent election decided by the Republican-controlled Senate—circumventing the will of the electorate.
The plan failed because Vice President Pence refused to violate the Constitution. But this moment became a lesson for Trump, revealing the institutional obstacles he would need to dismantle in order to reclaim and consolidate power.
In the years that followed, Trump and his allies focused on weakening those very safeguards. The judiciary, already shaped by his appointments, began issuing unprecedented rulings in his favor, including extensions of executive immunity. Loyalists were placed in key legislative and administrative positions—individuals unwilling to challenge his authority or uphold their oaths to the Constitution. Trump’s current vice president, J.D. Vance, has openly stated that he would not have opposed Trump on January 6, had he been in Pence’s position.
The executive branch now operates with minimal regard for judicial or congressional constraints. Court orders are ignored. The Attorney General refuses to pursue investigations or charges against those within the administration. Accountability, as a function of governance, has all but collapsed.
In this context, one must consider a difficult conclusion: Had Trump been re-elected in 2020, the institutional rot we now face might have been delayed or diminished. The belief that the election was stolen would never have taken hold, and the extraordinary efforts to dismantle constitutional protections might not have gained the momentum they currently enjoy.
We now find ourselves at a crossroads that may be irreversible. The historical parallels between Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler are no longer abstract—they are increasingly precise:
- Hitler was appointed Chancellor after manipulating democratic systems; Trump exploited democratic elections to return to power while openly vowing to dismantle the very institutions that enabled his rise.
- Hitler silenced opposition through propaganda and purges; Trump has declared the press the “enemy of the people,” threatened to jail political opponents, and filled government positions with unqualified loyalists devoted solely to him.
- Hitler seized emergency powers to override the legislature; Trump now rules by executive fiat, routinely defies court orders, and uses presidential authority to sidestep Congress and legal constraints.
- Hitler cultivated a cult of personality and weaponized fear; Trump demands personal loyalty over allegiance to the Constitution, encourages political violence, and labels dissenters as traitors to the country.
If history teaches us anything, it is that democracies do not fall overnight—they are eroded gradually, often under the guise of restoring greatness or protecting the nation. The next stage of this trajectory is as chilling as it is familiar: the criminalization of dissent, the mass incarceration of political adversaries, and the potential for state-sponsored atrocities. The warning signs are no longer subtle. We ignore them at our peril.
