Lmao - article says totally not tariff related. Sure. Nice timing.

I don't think the tariffs actually play a part. I think Stellantis is horribly mismanaged and are using this time to make lots of unpopular choices while everyone is blaming tariffs.
I'm in absolutely no way saying the tariffs are good or wise, I just think they're convenient to blame this on.

Stellantis builds their truck engines in Dundee (Michigan), Trenton (Michigan), and Saltillo (Coahuila, MX). I am sure parts are even more complicated, but based on engine assembly alone, I can imagine that they're trying to figure shit out regarding how to minimize the need for those Saltillo engines.

Stallantis has an inventory problem right now and are using the tariffs to close plants. They closed like 8 plants across Canada the US and Mexico yesterday

They're trying to wait out the tariffs, at least that's what we're believing in the supply chain. Steel and aluminum tariffs hit them hard, and they have a massive oversupply in the dealerships right now.

Trenton Engine has had significantly fewer people in their engine plant the past several months than they usually do. At least every time I've driven by mid-January to March. Probably making some engineering changes is my guess.

Warren and Sterling Heights.
Also all those part shipments that'll be delayed, all those truckers that won't be making shipments all those component orders into the upstream factories to make the components.

"More than 1,000 workers will reportedly be impacted by this issue. The spokesperson emphasized that this issue is not tariff-related." Spokesperson curiously had their fingers crossed during that part of the conversation
