u/dudeguy207 Jan 01 '25
I used to daily a Pentax when I was in my 20s. But with the cost of film these days it's definitely a pricey commitment.

Why’s that?
I had another camera (blanking on the name currently) but the mirror stopped flipping unfortunately so my buddy has had it for a bit to attempt to fix it. He gave me the fujica as a replacement while he is holding my other one.

Love it! But are you sure you’re only 20? Some of these items scream middle aged, lol.

“Why do you carry an empty Red Bull ca-“ “Trust me bro it’s necessary”

If you didn’t know, this particular flavor pear cinnamon was last years winter flavor and it was so fucking good. When they discontinued it, I was rightfully very disappointed and since last winter I always have my eye out for the chance of maybe finding another.
Luckily, about a month or two ago I hit the jackpot and found about a dozen of them so I bought them all, and drink them on special occasions. Today just felt right as one of those special days

u/Maiar_ Jan 02 '25
Ok the fact it was in the EDC post was already cool but its got a story behind it and everything so 11/10 inclusion, no notes

u/NoStinkingBadgers Dec 31 '24

u/gatorsandoldghosts Dec 31 '24
Hehe, it’s so good when you find a sub like this. It’s like “I found my people, and there’s more of us!”

Classic camera. Last one Fuji made under that line, I believe. Do you debrief your own film? Color? B&W?
3
u/_yukog Jan 01 '25
I’ve done it before, but currently don’t have the time, money, or space to do so. I shoot in B&W strictly. I took a photography class last spring semester earlier this year and I was able to develop my own film, and process it onto ilford paper in a darkroom to get some prints. It was an awesome class and I really enjoyed the learning about the chemistry that goes into it. I’ll upload a post onto Reddit of some of my prints. Check my profile tomorrow and I’ll have some pictures up if you’re interested

How's the iridium? Bulky/heavy in pocket? Been eyeing one lol
2
u/jimnyDean Jan 01 '25
I've had the iridium for a while, it's pretty slender and it's definitely light. I dont know what it seems chunky in OPs photo.
It's a great knife for the price, but the only thing I dont like about it is the texture on the thumb studs and crossbar lock, the two together get pretty irritating if you flick your knife alot like I do.
They also make the mini iridium now too if you want something smaller

u/_yukog Jan 02 '25
I have no qualms with mine. If you wear pants with big or side pockets, it’s no problem sliding your hand in and out of said pocket

that fish knife is incredible. how did you land that in your possesion??
2
u/_yukog Dec 31 '24
Little website called eBay! A bit cheaper than you might expect, but also holds its edge better than you may expect too. So it’s super worth it to me!! It’s from the 80’s and was made in the USSR best to my knowledge

Wait you’re a college kid driving a Lexus??

u/_yukog Dec 31 '24 edited Dec 31 '24
It’s a 2001 RX300 I bought for $3k from an old lady this past March. Nothing too special. Had 91k miles and every damn service record you could ever want. Total grab. I immediately bought it and sold my ‘07 4Runner with 360k miles for $7k within the hour of posting. I definitely miss my 4runner and prefer it any day over the Lexus but it’s had 0 problems for me and most likely a lot more life left in it.

u/Exactly_Yacht Jan 01 '25
When I got into my older lexus two years ago I was shocked how cheap these cars became. You can get a really nice luxury car for $3k-$15k depending on what you buy and where you live. It’s not unreasonable to purchase at a young age if you save. The maintenance bills are horrible though. My 04 LS430 cost me an arm and a leg every oil change.

Interested in the 2 lighters in this scenario. I think I understand the 2 knives, but the lighters has me curious.
Welcome to r/edc!

u/fasfan22 Dec 31 '24
He said he's a college student. So ... when they are passing around a roach, you need to pass the lighter as well, which you usually don't get back. This is the purpose of the Bic. You never, under any circumstances, use your Zippo for this purpose. Never pass out your Zippo. Same reason you would never let someone use your Spydie. You carry a POS knife for that purpose.

Back when you were just the ace cause everyone else was like wheres a lighter and your like I have mine you can borrow the bic...
Love your setup OP

u/German_Smith Dec 31 '24
I like the logic!
I love my Spyderco knives. But lately, I daily a slidewinder. They're like $10 and use utility razors so I don't feel bad "abusing" them.
I don't smoke but I daily a Bic because hey, other people do and sometimes I need fire.
3
u/_yukog Dec 31 '24
I smoke bowls occasionally so the zippo doesn’t work upside down, so I use the bic for myself.
Zippo is more for friends or strangers who are always in need of a light and it’s just a nicer flashy piece to show off. My friends atp always just know I have a lighter on me so they always ask me lol. And it feels nice being useful yk

Is your iPod all original, or do you have it converted to flash?
Also rockbox or stock OS?

That’s rad as hell, but why the iPod if you have an iPhone? Just for the headphone jack or did you have a kick ass iTunes collection at one point and don’t want to let it go?
6
u/_yukog Jan 01 '25
I own roughly 1300 CDs. I’ve ripped a good bit of them onto the ipod. However I am planning on buying a different one and modding it to have 512gb w a 2000mAh battery soon. It’ll be my ultimate music player.
I’ve also been trying to rely less on my phone lately. I’m looking to get a dumbphone and a simple digicam so I can start to leave my iPhone at home during the days so I can be more in tune to the world around us.

u/Zachabob1419 Jan 01 '25
The Cat S22 has worked well for me for the dumb phone thing. It runs android so you can have uber or your bank stuff or whatever for emergencies if it comes up, but it sucks to use so it’s only really for emergencies, which is really the goal i guess
