Discussion Driving in Edmonton vs Toronto
I moved from Toronto to Edmonton in the last week, and I must say, I actually love driving here, in terms of how the road infrastructure is set up. In the first few days it was a little confusing, what with the double left turn lanes and such, but on the whole, there is something relaxing about driving here compared to Toronto. In Toronto I am a super anxious driver. But here I am able to actually drive properly.
I don't see half the cars trying to race to the next light at 30kph over the limit. I don't see the horrible 401/DVP traffic at a standstill on the Henday - or ANYWHERE. Traffic always moves here! There is ample parking on the main roads where available, on Whyte for example. And it seems to me that police actually have an impact here and are much more visible on the roadways.
I have noticed two major detriments to driving though. First, I've noticed a lot of drivers are absent-minded or not aware of how the road infrastructure works. I stared at a car last night waiting for a left turn but not anywhere near the white intersection line, and so they never tripped the in-ground wires to indicate a waiting vehicle (I forget the name of this wire; it's usually in a box shape and is weight activated). Sometimes drivers drive like they're on the moon (going 50 in a 70 zone), but I find they're fewer and further between. And second, parking lots are super tight, and without the proper markings on the pavement, cars don't really have a guide on where to park.
Is this the general findings of everyone from Toronto? I must say, personally the pros outweigh the cons and I find driving here is so much better than driving in the Toronto mess

I've been really craving a good jamaican pattie lately and haven't the first idea of where to look in the city. If any of you fine folks could possibly steer me in the right direction that would be mint.

General Tick Season is Officially Here
Hey everyone, found this young deer tick on my dog this evening after a walk through our neighbourhood in the South West. If the ticks are in residential it could be a bad tick season. Just a friendly reminder to talk to your vet about options for keeping your pets protected!
Keep yourselves safe too!

Question venue recommendation for a combined bachelor/bachelorette party?
This summer my fiancé and I are having a combined bachelor & bachelorette party in Edmonton with about 30-40 people, mostly mid 20s to early 30s in age. The crowd is a pretty outgoing party crowd generally, but we definitely aren’t looking for a strip club vibe for the night. What places should we look into? Any recommendations for outdoor or indoor venues or location ideas would be appreciated!! :)

Discussion EBikes in River Valley
I am over E Bikes on the popular trails in the river valley. I am a MTBiker and a Dog Park user. I love the Edmonton river valley and I love seeing people out and enjoying them. But what I'm hating are E bikes and EMotorcycles buzzing all over the trails, last year I probably had 20 almost head on collisions with e- bikers. Today at Dawson while walking my dog the EBikes were buzzing around and almost hitting dogs and kids. I am pro ebike as transportation on roads and bike lanes, but if you can't handle slowing down and respecting other park users at popular times then go ride on the roads.

Question Rogers Place Tours?
I have tried to check for tour tickets a couple times but the Ticketmaster link always says "no events".
Do they do daily tours? How does one make a tour happen?

Outdoor Spaces/Recreation PSA: Please put out your river valley BBQs.
TLDR: Please extinguish and douse river valley bbqs after use. Remind friends who might not know.
I was going for a walk in the River Valley last night and a family was having a bbq at one of the picnic spots. I noticed they were packing up and appeared to be leaving but there was still fire going in the BBQ. I figured they were just going to put it out after they were all packed up. On my way back to my car I passed by the spot and the bbq was still as seen in the first picture and the family was gone.
Please, if you're going to make use of these spaces, extinguish and douse all fire/coals before leaving. Despite the remaining snow all the trees and grass are still very dry and would go up very quickly. If you know people who may not know this and talk about going to use one of these spots, gently remind them.
Our River Valley is too pretty to burn down.

Question Does anyone do singing telegrams anymore?
I've sent out a couple emails to the websites but they seem to be mostly defunct. I was hoping to hire someone to sing happy birthday to a friend for his birthday...
Does anyone know a company or even a local group that might do this ad hoc? Does anyone have topless rollerblading guys phone number? Jk but I am open to options.
Thanks all.

Question Looking for PPI mechanics.
Hey all, was wondering knows a good independent mechanic to do a PPI on a BMW M2. I’m looking at one from Go Auto and since I’ve read some of the posts here on Go Auto, I’d like to make sure the car is passable before I make the trip from Saskatoon.
Plan is to have a price locked down before I make the trip out as well. The link if anyone’s interested: https://www.goautooutlet.ca/vehicles/oXpQkaFnkq.

Question New Marshall's location?
Hi all. I heard a rumour that Marshall's may be opening in the old Bed, Bath and Beyond location at North Town Centre beside Indigo. I assume this would mean the other one across the street at Northgate would close. Anyone in the retail world know? Thanks!
