VP Station Visit Update
To those of you that tailed my post yesterday about the VP visiting here’s the update:
No, we are not getting laid off. (For now).
The VP kept it pretty short and sweet. He covered the state of the company and more importantly, talked about FedEx One in much more depth.
He did confirm that although the company is merging June 1, it will take 4-5 years for the company to fully initiate their plan.
And that plan ultimately is “One Driver One Neighborhood”.
Pretty much confirming what we all knew that, in some markets they will be transitioning to the contractor model and other markets, Express and Ground will both continue to exist.
Eventually, Express will be like Ground routes and pick up a higher stop count (with ground freight) in a more condensed area.
In conclusion, they ultimately only want one driver servicing an area handling both Express and Ground freight and every market will be different.

Getting paid per stop pays off sometimes
Apartment complex is updating some hardware with their directv systems. Each one is addressed to each apartment. So one box is one stop 😂 They have a locker system so going to be an easy day. 153 stops total.

Let us not waste this opportunity
FedEx is combining Express and Ground. History has proven that avoiding unionization at Express was a huge mistake... your jobs are not safe; the company is screwing you over. For the most part Ground drivers are taking it from the front and the back daily. The model was structured to prevent a union, the combination of Express and Ground is a valid point in proving the combined work group should not be considered under the RLA (Railway Labor Act). Both grouips deliver the same product, for the same company, their is NO reason we should be doing it for half the Teamster wage UPS receives with little or no benefits. If 50+% of drivers sign in favor of union representation, a vote will take place. It will be a tough sale in many regions, IMHO it is worth the effort. There is no reason a last mile P&D driver should be making anywhere below $250/day or $30/hr + benefits for a hard day of work. Raj and Jeff are paying lawyers big money to avoid unionization. Contact your local Teamster Union and seek advice on distributing union cards. Not everyone is priviledged, or gifted, to achieve post high school education and get a white collar job. There is no reason you should not be able to comfortably raise a family as a FedEx Driver; know your worth.

Business are annoying
The thing I hate about businesses when you deal with asshole workers who don’t wanna sign for a package and you literally have to wait for a manger to just make a line on the scanner and also my station is cracking down on forge signatures and also they make a big deal if you bring code 4

Ground Related Thoughts on this front axle? It’s a pain to drive, it doesn’t turn well at all.
It’s just over a foot or so under the body, and it’s like turning a beached whale. Is this even in DOT standards? The rear wheels are normal.

Advertising Budget?
I was watching tv tonight and saw the FedEx logo while sorting through channels. This is for Indian Premier League cricket. Glad to know advertising is still a core budget item.

Next hiring wave
I was rehired back in January, but had to voluntarily resign from FedEx due to how exhaustive the commute is between my other job and school (driving from home to Pasadena to Bell and to Diamond Bar). I told my manager that it sucks to leave since I finally loved to be at the load side since I was learning something new for once as unloading had gotten stale. What times of the year does FedEx usually hire? I plan on returning this summer at the earliest after this school semester is finished.
P.S. my other job just had to lay me off and then call me back in a few weeks later 💀

Ground Related Called out so many times and still haven’t been fired
I’m a package handler and I’ve called out so many times, way more than the minimum but yet still haven’t fired or even gotten a write up, I’m not proud of it or flexing it but I’m definitely one of the best workers on the van line, I make sure the trucks i get are always neatly organized and in the right spot, my back has been hurting so much for how hard I work that I started realizing that everybody else in my van line is working the absolute minimum and I’m tired, I started working a little less harder and just stared calling out more specifically Saturdays and sundays, I might seem like and asshole for doing it but I’m just so tired of doing all the hard work and getting paid the same, only reason I haven’t quit is because of how hard it is right now to find a new job

WICHITA KS, FEDEX EXPRESS FACILITY SHUTDOWN
The company is a complete shit show and is being ran into the ground by terrible management and logistical errors, all while the burden is placed on the driver. Time commitments are a fucking joke, unstable work hours or lack of a consistent schedule, compounded by the fact that FEDEX 2.0 has fucked the facility I worked out causing a majority of drivers to be laid-off due to not enough positions at the ground facility that they are consolidating everyone to. They had they audacity to persuade the drivers to stick around to help with the transition all the while there was no guarantee of employment after the transition.. positions only favored the employee's with tenure.
I moved to my location to work with FedEX Express and I started full-time in September.. But I have far too much respect for myself than to help rebuild FedEX just to get stabbed in the back, We had our meeting at the beginning of February at 5am in the morning. After that meeting to start the shift I walked out and quit.
If FedEX Express in Wichita Kansas... The air capital of the US and centrally located can shut down.. Expect this to be a possibility to any other location. Find some new work, learn a new skill... do whatever you need to do to get out of working for such a shit company.
I'm fucking glad I left, fuck that place.

FedEx Freight related Just got hired
I start as a warehouse package handler on Wednesday. Anything I should know beforehand? I have a friend working there so I’m asking them, too. Hopefully I’m not making a mistake by accepting the job, but they’re the first to offer me a position of the 50+ places I’ve applied to since January (hated my previous job).

How your hours looking PHs
Just finished my third straight week doing 6 days in preload. Schedule app usually says we’re at 24 hours but I’ve been pushing 30+. Our volume definitely increased over this last week.

Welcome to SC.
Customer states “all packages deliver to carport”
I think TF not.
(also the sign is hilariously misspelled)

Two types of customers...
(Me trying to deliver an ASR): "I'm not giving you my date of birth! That's private information!"
"Delivery has REQ: Garage. Garage code is #4250. Please put in garage and shut door."
Both from today. People are fucking weird man.

How to access Dimensions?
We don't use Blue Yonder, we use Dimensions to check and log our schedules at FedEx Freight.
That's accessed from a PC at work but I can't seem to find the page I would use to access it. Any ideas?
(I already texted my boss, btw).

Delivery Suspensions
Anybody know how or if its even possible to put in delivery suspensions in the Forge app?
