Support/Advice Is anyone else losing hair on the back of their head? And having an itchy scalp
I have been experiencing hair loss for 6 years now and recently it just got much much worse.
I have tried derma stamping. I have added spironolactone 100mg for over 6 months now. Switched from topical to oral minoxidil. It’s like every time I try to fix it, it just gets worse it is very depressing.
I feel like it isn’t just AGA anymore?? My scalp has been itchy this whole time for 6 years and I have tried medicated shampoos and an antibiotic the derm put me on that didn’t work either. I feel like I am going crazy, has anyone experienced the same?

✋🏾I inexplicably lost all of the hair at the back of my head. It’s been that way now for about 15 years. I saw a dermatologist once and she was absolutely useless. I just started using a prescription from Musely to see if it will regrow. It’s been two weeks and I see a difference already. The back used to have bald spots and now there’s new hair growing.
Adding that I have a full blood panel done yearly and everything is fine there. I tried multi vitamins, biotin, and Minoxidil and none of those helped.

I have no idea. The dermatologist looked at my hair and scalp and pulled on what little hair that I had there and couldn’t determine anything. She recommended I try Minoxidil which didn’t help me at all.
I am going to schedule another dermatologist appt Monday. I didn’t know a biopsy was a possibility until I found this group.
Edit: sorry I read it wrong. I thought you asked what I have. It’s The Hair Topical Solution: Minoxidil 8% Spironolactone .075% Tretinoin .01% Ketoconazole 2% Hydrocortisone 1%

One,Minoxidil does cause hair loss initially before u see improvements.
Two, itchy scalp could be a host of issues. Dandruff? Eczema? Allergy? Dry scalp? Oily scalp? Low vitamin D levels?
I have PCOS and have low iron and vitamin D so hair loss is kinda my current situation and Im on birth control to help with hormones. I take Spirolactone for acne and hair loss.
Honestly if anti dandruff shampoo doesn't work I would seriously see if ur allergic to another product u place on ur scalp.
I'm not a doctor or a derm this is from my experience

start using nizoral ASAP--start with 1-2x a week, leave on for 5-7 mins before washing off.
also, you may be prone to yeasty scalp. thoroughly blowdry your hair after getting out of the shower and see if it helps.

I have used 2% ketoconazole and it has not done anything for the itchiness unfortunately. Clobetasol is the same.

Trust me on this — look up monistat for hair growth and start the protocol immediately.

It's the exact same for me! Most of my hairloss is also in the back and ONLY the back itches. The itch isn't constant for me though. I do also experience hairloss around my hairline. My derm said I probably have AGA, but I'm not convinced as she only diagnosed it by looking at my scalp for a few seconds lol. Have you had any bloodwork done?

I'd get a biopsy to get a proper diagnosis.
