Freshwater Never Question the Dangers of cold water

I went kayak fishing with a trolling motor for the first time. I am pretty experienced with kayaking especially in cold waters. I was trolling around and seen a tree partially submerged and figured with a paddle I could get over it but I didn't take it into consideration that the propeller would get caught up. I was trying to reach back and and release the clip but I couldn't reach with my kayak paddle so I figured I could manage to turn around and reach for it and I ended up turning over instantly. The temps immediately dropped my body temp and I was in shock. I couldn't breathe from temps, I immediately started treading and holding onto my kayak but I could barely move. I attempted to hold onto the kayak even trying to climb on top but I was too weak. I then started laying on my back as I remembered I could float easily without expending anymore energy. I somehow managed the strength to kick my legs and get myself to the edge where I could almost kneel to crawl out onto the grass. I just laid there for the next 10 minutes until gained some energy to walk again. I then made my way up a steep bank as you see in the video. That was the state I was in even after all that time has passed. I managed to drive 15 minutes home to get my wife and my other kayak to retrieve my flipped kayak and to hopefully prevent park rangers from thinking I drowned. I hope my experience can help prevent someone elses or help them through if they are as unlucky as I was.

Me and my buddies have a trot line camp out every March on Lake Murray SC. This is what we pulled in this year.

First day of trout season in PA. The amount of people pissed that you and a child caught your limit of STOCKED trout is insane.

Caught on power eggs power bait and mouse tails she fished one rod and I did as well. We were pretty shoulder to shoulder fishing but everyone was casting out as far as they could. I told her the trick was to cast about 10 feet out and have our leader line just long enough to get above the grass. We caught 13 in total but I dropped 3 😅. We were the first out of probably 200 people to limit out and leave the reservoir and 90% of them just glared at us as we walked out.

She has the fishing bug now tho and wants to go back tomorrow

My favorite place to fish is this swampy creek behind my house and I love catching bowfin. Prehistoric predators that put up a fight and taste great

Freshwater Found a European Eel in my pond at home, at a loss what to do..

We're in the process of cleaning out our pond and when fishing out dead plants and some fish all of a sudden I get a hold of an eel.

As far as I've been told this is an endangered species normally only found in rivers, but our pond is not within kilometers of any rivers. I got it out and have it save here in a barrel but at a loss what to do with it.

Bass Pro Tightline Honest opinion.

Upvotes

Just bought a new bass pro tightline 6000 rod and reel for a friend of mine, what I've read is that they are very durable. It's got a 4.9 gear ratio and an 8 ft rod. It's obviously a rod for bait fishing. What do you guys think?
