Helped my 78 year old dad purchase his first two AGE over the weekend. He’s already planning on purchasing another 5 in the coming weeks. You’re never too old to pick up a new hobby.

Found this sitting in my front yard.

When I was 7 years old, I was playing badminton in my front yard, and something shining in the garden bed caught my eye. Thinking it was just a weird small penny, I gave it to my parents, who told me it was gold and kept it in the bank for me, until now, many years later.

No idea how it ended up there, maybe a crow dropped it off?

Am I understanding this right? It appears to be 1/20th of the weight of this pendant is comprised of 12k gold? I know GF is gold filled, which has basically ment it was worthless in other jewelry items I’ve seen, but the 1/20 is throwing me off.

I live in Nevada and I’ve been thinking about buying from Costco for a while but it’s always “out of stock”. Now I’m in Canada and I decided to do a search and I see this. Seems like that bit of info would have been helpful when I was back home.

Question Anyone here seriously investing in gold and silver? Trying to figure out if it’s still worth it

I’ve been thinking more and more about diversifying outside of traditional stocks and crypto, and naturally gold and silver keep coming up. With everything going on in the economy — inflation, interest rate shifts, general uncertainty — the idea of holding something tangible feels more appealing than it used to. That said, I also don’t want to jump into a hype cycle or fall for shiny object syndrome (literally).

I get the basics: gold is the go-to for long-term wealth preservation and silver is more volatile but also more accessible and industrially used. I’ve read that some people stack physical bullion, others use ETFs, and some even play the mining stock game. I’m just not sure where the smart middle ground is.

Part of me likes the idea of holding physical metals, especially if things ever get chaotic enough that having real assets matters. But I also don’t want to deal with storage, insurance, or accidentally buying from some sketchy online dealer that charges 30% premiums over spot. On the flip side, ETFs feel safer and easier to manage, but then I wonder if I’m losing the whole point of “hard assets” by keeping them digital.

Have any of you added gold or silver to your portfolio in a meaningful way? Did it actually help balance things out, or did it just kind of sit there while other investments did the heavy lifting? I’m not looking to go all-in, but maybe allocate 5–10% just as a hedge.

Perth fakes on eBay

Is there a reason so many of the gold bars on eBay listed under melt from new sellers with no feedback are Perth Mint bars? I see others as well, but the most common is Perth. Are those easily faked or something?

Krugs vs Bars?

Kruggerands vs Bars/pamps. Any difference? Should I be buying one instead of the other? What's your preference and why?
