The challenge for the Germans is going to be the RAF and Royal Navy.
The improvised invasion that was done in Norway prior to their mobilization would not work against the British. Even if the Luftwaffe was able to deny a sea zone and its skies to the British sufficient to move an initial force over the channel, the need for additional troops and a supply chain of fuel and ammunition will be beyond what can be done with the ships on hand. One of the key points of the plan involved using river barges in open sea. Capturing more ships isn’t out of the question but they’ll still need to be crewed and fueled.
Keeping the landing force in supply is going to be endangered further when the British put together an armada sufficient to deny that sea zone and its skies to the Germans.
Unless the British government collapses quickly (which is unlikely given that they can go north and call on the commonwealth) it’s probably a costly failed gamble for the Germans.
