Yeah I genuinely don’t understand where the disrespect was. The guy couldn’t get a word in edgewise. And I don’t even have strong opinions about whether we should keep sending them money or not. Just looking at it objectively

What’s the first two words Zelensky said? Thank you.

u/alxndiep Monkey in Space Mar 01 '25

Clearly passive aggressive
not necessarily disagreeing with Zelensky’s points but the heated exchange was definitely not unprovoked

u/polite_alpha Monkey in Space Mar 01 '25

It was totally unprovoked. Zelenskyys anger is towards Putin, very clearly. And let's also not forget Trump called him a dictator just last week. You need to be supremely dumb to see any provocation coming from Zelenskyy.

No, you have to pure orange man bad to not see any provocation here

Full context is that Jd was talking about the diplomacy the US has shown
Zelensky basically said what diplomacy which can easily be taken as provocation

Zelenskyys point was not that the US did anything wrong, but that it's useless to try and be diplomatic with a terrorist, which he evidenced by numbering the amount of times that Russia broke agreements and ceasefires (some of which were negotiated by Trump, by the way). Did you really not understand that?

You know what actually is provocation? Calling Zelenskyy a dictator.

Again, i was not disagreeing with Zelensky’s point as I clearly stated (learn to read)

I was disagreeing with the narrative that Trump/Jd decided to bully Zelensky unprovoked when it was clearly provoked.

Its like having guests over and saying “We have shown you great hospitality to our guests!” only for guests to say “What hospitality? There was none!” (even if there truly was none)

edit: also the dictator thing was days before

I was explaining that the part you interpreted as provocation, was no provocation at all, it was no critique of the US government but a statement of fact that Putin can't be trusted. (learn to read)

um yeah no.

vance starts talking about diplomacy the US has shown/differences between Trump/Biden on their views of war. Z asks “what diplomacy?” a deliberate provocative act. then he goes and asks Jd If he’s ever been to Ukraine (aka shut up and don’t speak about my country if you haven’t been there)

again, you can agree with Z (i do) but lets stop acting like it was some planned ambush, he baited Trump/Vance and they took the bait like morons especially Vance

i think jd was saying that trump's brand of diplomacy is the path forward to success, and zelensky then gave a few examples of previous instances of diplomacy between ukraine and russia not working, some under trump years and some under biden years, and then asked to specify what kind of diplomacy trump would implement. IMO this is a fair question considering there seems to be a lot of confusion around why zelensky isn't just accepting any and all types of diplomacy with russia

vance (paraphrased): "the path to peace and prosperity is engaging in diplomacy. we tried thumping our chests under the biden years. what makes america a great country is engaging in diplomacy" -- so basically he is saying that trump will go the route of diplomacy.

then zelensky explains the previous attempts at diplomacy with russia and tries to ask what kind of diplomacy trump will go for and it sort of breaks down from there.

i like trump but this isn't a great look IMO...

Holy shit, the Trump cult is out there....

"He didn't say Thank you!"

"He did, in fact it was the first thing he said."

"HE DIDN'T SAY IT RIGHT!!1!!!1!"

I saw it all, can you point out what exactly was wrong with his behavior? I just don’t really see it.

u/sithren Monkey in Space Mar 01 '25

“The disrespect” is only there if you want to see it. Like always it’s projection. They want Zelensky to grovel. And he didn’t, that’s the “disrespect.”

u/dmcaems Monkey in Space Mar 01 '25

He didn't suck putin's dick by proxy via trump.

2

u/sozcaps Monkey in Space Mar 01 '25

3

the disrespect is on the american side but Lex is incapable of critical thought.

2

u/Jesbro64 Monkey in Space Mar 01 '25

They're completely disingenous. Could not be more full of shit. It's just a planned excuse to abandon our allies who we invaded by a warmongering dictator.

2

u/cwtguy Monkey in Space Mar 01 '25

Me too! Genuinely confused as to why he was 'so disrespectful.' I don't know who this Friedman guy is.

I saw a media person suggesting it was so disrespectful that Zelensky's not wearing a suit, which I can kind of understand from their perspective, but do not agree with, especially since his uniform has been consistent and showing the world that they're at war.

Other than that, what is there? Aren't we taught that cutting people off in conversation and berating them is disrespectful? That's all on JD here.
