Hi, hunters!
So the last thread like this became overwhelmed with discord link spam (AGAIN), and it was too time-consuming to try and clean up so I decided to just make a new thread for another fresh start.
This thread will have strict crowd control turned on, and any comments violating crowd control will be removed, instead of simply collapsed.
If you want to post in this thread, you must have:
This will hopefully ensure that all of the discord spam accounts/bots are not able to comment, and we can keep users safe.
Anyways, throw your discords in here, or state if you're looking for people to hunt with.
If you have any questions or need assistance, just send me a DM. Thanks!

Hi everyone. As me and a bunch of my friends are getting into the series, I wanted to understand if MH Rise is the best for a medium-to-large group, based on Co-op features ONLY. I read some very dissenting opinions on this, some saying Rise is the best while others saying Investigations get repetitive. I only played MH2 ages ago so I'm completely out of the loop.
I realize game comparisons have been discussed to death on this subreddit, but I never saw a specific post related to the COOP focus of Rise vs other games (including Generations, 4U, World, maybe even Wilds). By that I mean:
Basically everything that is related to singleplayer is not relevant, as we will not be playing alone ever. Thank you a bunch.

Just reached hr 55 and wanted to talk about what I think about the game! Could be a long read
I can't believe I've never stumbled upon this franchise before. Got into it when I saw how cool wilds was and after checking a lot of concept art.
The only monster I knew before hand was.. Khezu lol. A problem I have if you don't have a friend to explain you stuff the tutorials are so overwhelming and bad just making you read soo many things in the first couple hours? Also the village and hub systems I was really confused at first even thought theyr a fairly simple concept.
Monster designs? AWESOME since this was my first game every monster was new to me. I love that everyone has a cool intro makes it so much easier to like them. I think the roaster is pretty diverse I love my babies. Saw a couple people saying magnamalo's design was too crazy or whatever, maybe? Doesnt matter his fight was so epic to me with the music amplifying how much of a menace he is. Got my first cart against the guy really loved how well designed his fight was. The yokai insipartions are so creative
My least favorite would probably be jyuratodus because... Like he's just a fish? With a pretty bad color palette imo. I think I carted a lot in hunts at least once after hr mizu. He was my first fail.
I wish they did more with magnamalo? He was awesome but he kinda showed up...and died? Like five minutes after? The one you see at the end of the game isnt even the same one from his reveal cutscene :/
The armor sets and weapons are so lovely made too. I always looked forward to cheking the new buddy gear I unlocked after a hunt. Played mostly dual blades in low rank thrn switched to bow in high rank. Sprinkled a bit of hammer and gunlance here and there.
Cant really reflect the joy and excitement I felt over this game's art design over text I think. I was constantly suprised.
Didnt really mind rampages? I played the game fully solo and you have to do like only 3 of them. I admit theyd be much easier and fun multiplayer but its not as bad as people make it sound like.
So many memorable characters and moments! Time for sunbreak and then World (which seems like it looks incredible visually)!

Considering Rise was originally released as a switch exclusive and it doesn’t seem as if Capcom has any desire to port Wilds to the Switch 2 as they probably would have announced it alongside SF6 at the switch 2 direct. It got me thinking “what if they updated rise?”. I don’t think it should get a major overhaul or anything like some of the other switch 2 upgrades are, but it would be really nice to be able to play rise on the go with silky smooth fps! It already was one of the best looking switch games, literally all it would need is to unlock the frame-rate.

The first has silkbind boost 20 more raw, has no slots outside of a great rampage Slot(Lucent has a level 4 and level 2) and -25% affinity, lastly it wouldn't be able to use Grinder S since the white affinity is very long.
So my verdict is...I don't know? Maybe Lucent Narga LS is more consistent and can use more skills, but that 350 raw and silkbind boost...oh boy.

The one problem I have had with mh games is getting overwhelmed by the weapon and armor options.
I'm still 3 star, but just finished my first rampage, so I know there probably isn't much to go by yet but the build tree for weapons is already fairly large.
For the little bit I played worlds I mostly did bow guns and bows I feel like I'm at the same level as worlds but I have way more stuff then in worlds. Bows I understand I should focus on elemental weapons and stamina armor.
But What kinds of things should I focus on for gunlance, insect glaive, lbg, and hbg?

im fairly new to the game and just yesterday got through magnamalo, since then ive hunt him 3 more times and im using his armor set/sinister blades which is my best gear but i still find it lacking? ive been doing lvl 3 hunts without getting carted once and trying to get as much dmg but i still average 20 mins per hunt solo and i feel like i could do better.

My first time playing with charge blade, I'm still learning but I already love it (yes, I forgot about the guard point)

So I picked up MHR after more than a year of not playing. I started from scratch and didn't use the defender set, so I could familiarize with the mechanics again. I play longsword, and find myself having a bit of a hard time adapting to master rank. Any advice out there?

I'm at anomaly research level 220 and I need 241 but I get just a level per hunt; how can I level up faster?
I've been slogging through levelling anomaly investigation with the long sword and decided on a whim to just change weapons. I threw together a simple spread build and hunted a barioth for the first time since stepping into the dlc.
You guys weren't kidding about ranged weapons having less defense than melees. I can absolutely feel each hit and they HURT. Also having wirebug skills on right bumper feels so weird now. I am afraid of fighting primordial malzeno again if I decide to stick with LBG.
I do have a couple questions though. I'm using a lvl2 evade extender, so would maxing it and/or getting evade window if possible be a good idea? Are there any monsters that are simply a terrible idea to LBG against? Thanks!

I've got a 4060 graphics card, which is capable of both DLSS and DLAA. Rise is pretty performant, so I haven't bothered with DLSS, but I did like DLAA, so I activated that.
Then, randomly, I run the game, and find that all of my graphical settings have changed to the lowest, and DLAA is greyed out. I revert my settings back to what they were, and I get into the game, but I get a lot of ghosting that's characteristic of DLSS on Ultra Performance, so I open the menu, and DLSS is also greyed out along with DLAA.
I assumed this meant neither was active, but, like I said, the visuals definitely look like DLSS on Ultra Performance, for whatever reason. But the game refuses to let me turn it off, since, despite having DLSS on Ultra Performance, it seems to think I have DLAA active, which makes it so that I can't mess with DLSS. But DLAA tells me that I can't activate or deactivate it because DLSS is active.

Late the the party on Rise. Fancied Wilds but it won’t run on the Steamdeck so thought I’d give it a go instead (plus it was cheap). Enjoying myself so far. 40 odd hours in and I’ve just about made sense of it (my first MH game). Finished all the village quests and I’m up to 5* hub quests. Appreciate I’ve got a long way to go yet and have Sunbreak ready for when the time comes.
Been exclusively using the long sword so far and pretty used to the mechanics albeit it’s pretty straightforward. Was wondering if this remains a viable weapon to use as the game gets harder or should I start looking at something else before the difficulty ramps up even more?
Ps. If anyone’s of a similar level and on Steam, let Me know if you want to team up.

Really hoping they bring switch skills back in the expansion for wilds or something similar
