I don't even know how you did not get knocked down doing that.
Everytime I do a soaring wyvern blade against a monster mid attack, I get knocked out of the air.

u/scism223 May 19 '21
I usually get a hit inbefore also getting knocked back. I got lucky here with my instincts, as aerial hit boxes are so obnoxious sometimes.

That switch axe reminds me of Soul Edge

What is that SA :O

Chameleos!!! One of my faves!

u/drunkenwizardry May 20 '21
Oh yeah, I actually just beat Chameleos a few hours ago and even though his switchaxe is slightly inferior to the one I was using prior, I'm still using his.

I was also using some venom decos to boost poison buildup, on top of crit with this set. Its really good with DoT. Oh and and the "chameleos soul" ramp up skill is really cool! Getting a Stat boost from attacking makes it quite unique.

u/eyelesslego May 19 '21
Dam I really want that swaxe now

u/scism223 May 19 '21
I used it a ton in MH3U and it's the best it's ever been in Rise! Also I was using some sort of gut feeling, an ultra instinct if you will, and got really lucky. Usually you get Plesioth'd out of the sky ha ha.

What arena quest is that?

u/scism223 May 19 '21 edited Oct 05 '24
The one with Rajang Magnamalo, and Bazel, I wanna say "Veterans Gala?" It's actually a village quest you get in the endgame.
Edit: it's a 6 star once you beat the last urgent quest I think...

u/neworgnldave May 19 '21
You have to clear ALL village quests before it. It unlocks a VERY NICE piece of armor.

Are you talking about the eye patch or did it unlock something I didn’t notice? Im 99% sure I finished it but I never really considered the eye patch THAT good you know?
4
u/MenacingVillager69 May 20 '21
The eye patch is good if haven’t beat teostra yet it gives 4lvl crit eye
2
u/A-Grouch May 20 '21
Honestly if it had at least a single level 2 or 3 deco slot I would have loved it.
3
u/DeffJamiels May 20 '21
But you have to beat toestra to unlock the quest so it's actually not good really.

u/neworgnldave May 21 '21
I'd say it's nicer than 95% other armor pieces available. It may not be the absolute best for most builds, but it's still top-tier

I'm low key struggling with this quest at the moment with charge blade. There too fast moving and can't get my big swings off at all, the other monster always just hits me before my blade comes down. Anyway to slow these things down a bit?

u/scism223 May 19 '21 edited May 20 '21
Its quite difficult to manage the two at the same time, so don't get disheartened. It is challenging!
All I can say is keep on the move, dodge/evade from any corners they put you in, and take your time. Use your gut instinct, and attack only when you can be sure its safe. Not taking damage means more time attacking than healing, more time attacking = faster clear times/less chaos!
Also I can help if you like, or try multiplayer?
3
u/SolidSnakerp May 20 '21
Thanks! I guess I shouldn't just try to do the most dmg possible all the time, I'll try a bit more of a passive approach. Does multiplayer work with these quests? I thought you couldn't with village quests :/ I reckon it would be a fun quest multiplayer

u/SolidSnakerp May 20 '21
Also awesome takedown too by the way. Doesn't get much cooler than that
2
u/scism223 May 20 '21
Thanks and cheers, I kinda got lucky with instincts. 9 times outta 10 it is not this satisfying!
2
u/scism223 May 20 '21
Lol oh yeah... why did they block multiplayer from village again? I know they did that in the old games, but it just seems kinda arbitrary considering world allowed it.
2
u/SolidSnakerp May 20 '21
I have no idea. This is my first MH game, I missed out on a lot it seems... Agree with you. Doesn't seem like it would be that hard too just bring the same scaling system for the monsters from the hub over to the village and make it multi. I'm no developer but haha. A couch co-op split screen would be sick too but I know that's a fading dream nowadays

May 20 '21
I used a GS to clear it second try with one cart. I'd recommend you to bring 2 kitties. maybe 2 healers or 1 healers with a bomber or assist. but yea I always keep getting hit so free heals always help.
funny I had more trouble with magnamolo than rajang but yea try killing them before the other one comes out or you might get double teamed
3
u/SolidSnakerp May 20 '21
Didnt even think of two cats, great idea. Magnamolo is the one that is finishing me off haha
2
u/scism223 May 20 '21
This is great advice^ having healer palico is my go-to anyway, and I still use a palamute for agro. When either of the monsters are distracted heal, and recover.
And I agree, Rajang got nerfed a bit imo compared to world. Magnamalo has some questionable hit boxes, and Bazel is still bazel. Watch out for the boomy💥 scales

u/monsterscribbles May 20 '21
Don't forget to raise up the wall and separate them as often as you can. Keeps the surprise explosions to a minimum.

u/Vorlox May 19 '21
Oh my, and I thought my post was cool... this is bad ass!

u/scism223 May 19 '21 edited May 19 '21
Thanks! I'll check yours out, I'm sure they are just as badass too!
Edit: nice Narga kill! I wore his armor out of spite haha

Dude how are you getting 163 damage out of a swing like that? I use switch axe and I feel like I have a decent skill setup but my damage doesn’t approach that
2
u/scism223 May 20 '21
Crit build, Wex talisman level 2 and some crit gems. The Narga set gives you tons of affinity to work with and my set/load out was far from optimized. I could have done even more with crit boost!
2
u/Reallysickmariopaint May 20 '21
Nice! I’m still working out what skills I want to use so this is really helpful. I’m full attack boost/weakness exploit right now but just beat teostra, so I’m gonna work crit eye and crit boost into my skills because it’s helmet is broken. Do you think quick sheathe is worth it or should I slot in rapid morph or focus or something else instead?
2
u/scism223 May 20 '21 edited May 20 '21
Anything you want! All of those skills have great utility in some form or fashion. Go focus or rapid morph for even more dps though. Rapid morph SA is really fun, and I have not tried focus axe, but it is great on power non-element axes I hear.
Edit: also make sure you ramp up weapons for extra attack, affinity, or sharpness in the case of the rampage weapons!
